The Walking Scorer is typically a volunteer who walks with a group and keeps their score. This individual may also record shot tracking statistics. The Walking Scorer will be assigned to a specific group for the round.
Walking Scorers will utilize the mobile application to record hole-by-hole results. The Event/League Dashboard will allow customer managers to view and edit all of the results received from the mobile app in real-time.
In this article, we will discuss setting up and managing walking scorer permissions, signing into the mobile app, and using the mobile app to record hole-by-hole scores.
Enabling Walking Scores:
If you would like to enable the walking scorer feature, in addition to the usual setup steps (e.g., add players, create pairings, create tournaments, set course/tee), you need to do the following in each round:
Enable Walking Scores: To enable this feature, go to Round > Enable Walking Scores. You will then be presented with a pop-up to enable additional walking scorer settings (as shown below):
Permissions: You can allow the walking scores to edit scores after verifying them in the mobile app.
Extra Holes: Defines if the walking scorer can enter scores or add new extra holes on the mobile app. Note: If running a match play tournament, extra holes must be set as the tie-breaker to allow walking scores to enter extra hole results.
This menu can always be accessed again from the Rounds menu by clicking "Enable Walking Scorers."
Enable Mobile Score Entry: This option is found under the Rounds Menu. Walking Scorers will not be able to log in to the mobile app until this is enabled.
Move the Round Status to "In Progress": This option is found under the Rounds Menu. When the round is "In Progress," the leaderboard will go live and update automatically as scores are entered.
Signing into the Mobile App:
When first opening the mobile app, you are presented with a screen to enter a foursome GGID (as shown below).
There are several different places you may be able to find or include a foursome GGID:
Scores on the Mobile App:
To enter scores using our mobile app, follow these instructions:
Enter the Foursome GGID into the app.
Click "Sign In."
Click "Continue."
Select the Pairing Group.
After entering the scores, the scorer clicks "Verify Scores."
If the scores were entered correctly after review, the volunteer clicks "Save Scores." At this point, those scores are posted to the live leaderboard. The scorer may or may not be able to go back and edit the scores depending on what permission option was selected by the Manager when setting up the Walking Scorer Feature.
Using the iPad App for Walking Scorers:
The iPad App can also be used with the Walking Scorer feature. Like the mobile app, the volunteer can enter their assigned GGID into the iPad app. The instructions to enter scores with the iPad are the same as the mobile app instructions above.
