Shot Tracking is a sophisticated feature that allows a volunteer walking scorer to record individual shot information for players in a group. Shot Tracking allows for data to be recorded and used for statistical analysis, hole-by-hole results, and display purposes.

Shot Tracking will utilize the mobile application Golf Genius Officials and foursome GGID's for volunteers to record individual shot information. The customer management side will allow users to view and edit all of the shot information received from the mobile app in real-time.

In this article, we will discuss setting up and managing shot tracking, using the mobile app to record shot-by-shot records, viewing players, course shot-by-shot records, and exporting results to a spreadsheet.

Enabling Shot Tracking:

If you would like to enable shot tracking for the round that already has pairings, and course and tee set, go to Round > Enable Shot Tracking and toggle the switch to "Yes" (as shown below).

Shot Tracking Dashboard:

Once shot tracking is enabled for a round, the Shot Tracking Dashboard menu will be available from the Round Menu. In the Shot Tracking Dashboard, you will have access to:

  • Scoring Official - A manager type that only has access to the Shot Tracking Dashboard for specific leagues/events where they are listed as managers.

  • Scoring Control - Scoring Control provides real-time data on shot tracking for each player/group. Managers can also modify shot tracking results from this page if necessary.

To access the Shot Tracking Dashboard, go to Round > Shot Tracking (as shown below).

Scoring Official:

To add a Scoring Official, go to Round > Shot Tracking > Add New Scoring Official. You will be asked to provide the new official's first name, last name, and email (as shown below).

Scoring Officials can be reinvited or removed from the action dropdown next to their name in the scoring official's list.

Scoring Officials will only have access to the Shot Tracking Dashboard for a particular league/event (as shown below). On the Dashboard page, Scoring Officials can:

  • Change the Round (Only available in multi-round events)

  • Access Scoring Control

  • Access Double Score Verification (If enabled)

Scoring Control:

The Scoring Control Page provides real-time data on how the Round is being played, with up-to-minute results. The format contains players Grouped by their Pairings with shot information showing in cells for each hole.

If a Hole is marked as completed, the number of shots (Gross Score) will be shown for that hole, and results will be displayed on the live leaderboard. If the hole is still in progress, each shot type will be displayed, and a score will not be posted to the live leaderboard (as shown below).

Note: If a foursome scorecard is marked as checked on the score entry page, scores are no longer propagated from the shot tracking results.

On the Scoring Control page, there is two option in the footer (admin users only):

  • Random Shots: Similar to random Scores, it fills all of the holes with Random values for shots. This allows you to test the shot tracking scoring control page.

  • Clear All Shots: This allows you to clear all shot tracking shots on the scoring control page. Note: This should only be used when necessary or to remove random shots.

Entering Shot Tracking Results:

To enter shot tracking results, click on the cell you need to populate with shot tracking details. A popup will be presented, allowing you to enter each shot for that hole (as shown below). Near the top, you will see details of the player, group, and hole you are entering shot details as confirmation.

Add shots by clicking "Add Shot," select the shot type and click the checkmark to save that shot. Once all shots have been entered, check the box to "Mark as completed" and click "Save" to complete the shot entry for that hole. Once a hole is marked as completed by a scoring official, the score will be posted to the live leaderboard.

Modifying Shot Tracking Results:

To modify a shot tracking results, click on a score or shot type, and a popup showing each shot for that hole will be presented. You can:

  • Edit or delete an existing shot by clicking the pencil,

  • Delete a shot by clicking the trash can,

  • Remove all shots by clicking "Clear All Shots,"

  • Add new shots by clicking "Add Shot", or

  • Mark the hole as completed (as shown below).
