Supported File Types, Integrations & Document Limits

The document sources Trunk Tools connects to, the file types it can read, and known size limits.

Supported File Types, Integrations & Document Limits

Trunk Tools layers on top of the tools your team already uses, reading both structured and unstructured project data from the sources you connect.

Where your documents come from

Trunk Tools connects to:

  • Procore

  • Autodesk Forma (Autodesk Construction Cloud / Build)

  • SharePoint

  • CMiC

  • Box

  • Dropbox

  • Egnyte

Note: CMiC, Box, Dropbox, and Egnyte are turned on per project by the Trunk Tools team. Until then, Box, Dropbox, and Egnyte show as Coming soon in the app. Contact your CSM to turn one on.

For setup instructions, see the integration guides in this collection. For help deciding what to connect, see What Documents Should You Integrate Into Trunk Tools?

Uploading documents directly

Where direct upload is turned on for your account, you can also add documents without a connected source:

  • Upload documents — up to 350MB per file.

  • Secure uploads

File types Trunk Tools can read

Trunk Tools handles both structured and unstructured project data, including:

  • PDF — drawings, specs, submittals, and other documents

  • Word — .docx files only

  • Excel

  • PowerPoint

  • Plain text

  • CSV — data exports

  • XER / MPP — schedule files (Primavera and Microsoft Project)

  • Structured data fields pulled directly from Procore and Autodesk Forma

Note: Images and CAD files are not read as project documents.

Document size limits

TrunkSubmittal supports PDF documents up to 250MB, which covers the large majority of submittals. A document above that limit won't be processed.

Note: Limits can vary by agent and file type. For the limits that apply to your account or a specific agent, contact support@trunk.tools.
