Insights Dashboard Overview

Insights dashboard overview

Updated over a week ago

Here at TryNow, we believe that data is power. While Shopify and your external analytics providers offer a comprehensive overview of your entire store, it's equally important to have a clear understanding of how your TryNow program is performing on its own.

To help you with this, we have created an insights dashboard—a simple, "at a glance" view that allows you to assess the health of your TryNow program. The insights dashboard consists of the following components:

  • TryNow Orders Count

  • TryNow Order Status Over Time

  • TryNow Gross Units Per Transaction (UPT)

  • TryNow Net Revenue

  • TryNow Opt-In

  • TryNow ROI

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How can I access my insights dashboard?

To access your insights dashboard, log into your Merchant Portal (merchant.trynow.io) using your credentials, and then look for the "Insights" tab in the header row at the top.

2. What do each of the tiles mean?

Each tile in the dashboard provides specific information relevant to your TryNow program. Here's a breakdown of the key tiles and their meanings:

  1. TryNow Orders Count - This tile displays the count of all TryNow orders created during the specified period. A TryNow order refers to any order where the TryNow purchase option has been selected for at least one item. This metric can help you track the volume and trends of TryNow orders over time.

  2. TryNow Gross Units Per Transaction (UPT) - This tile displays the average number of items included at checkout for all TryNow orders during the specified period. This will include both TryNow and non-TryNow items present in the order. This metric can help you understand the average quantity of items customers are trying and provide insight into shopper behavior.

  3. TryNow Net Revenue - This tile displays the total amount of money collected from customers, after refunds have been processed, across all TryNow orders during the specified period. It includes revenue from both TryNow and non-TryNow items in the order, as well as non-merchandise charges like shipping and taxes. The date that Net Revenue is counted is the day it was charged to the Shopper. This metric can help you understand the scale and profitability of your TryNow program.

  4. TryNow Opt-In - This tile displays the percentage of orders in your online store that were TryNow orders. This count excludes any cancelled orders, and only includes the count of orders from your "Online Store" channel, since that is where TryNow is available. This metric can help you understand how widely your TryLinks are being used, and if you need to dial up or back on the program's volume.

  5. TryNow ROI - This tile displays your TryNow ROI. Use this ROI calculator to calculate and track ROI based on your unique inputs. You can analyze the true ROI of your program after taking into account all incremental TryNow costs. This factors in all additional costs such as return shipping costs, warehouse receiving fees, restocking expenses, and more.

Additional tiles will be introduced in the near future to provide you with more insights into your TryNow program.

3. Are the tiles customizable?

Yes, you have the flexibility to customize the data displayed on the dashboard. You can adjust the date ranges for the main period, comparison period, and choose the granularity of the charts. Here are the available options:

  • Main Period Date Range:

    • Custom (select specific dates)

    • All

    • Today

    • Yesterday

    • Last 7 Days

    • Last 30 Days

    • Last 90 Days

    • Last Month

    • Last Year

  • Granularity of the charts:

    • Previous Quarter (links to the period ending three months prior to the selected time period)

    • Previous Year (links to the period ending twelve months prior to the selected time period)

4. How often is the data refreshed?

Data is refreshed at different cadences based on how old the information being queried is, but rest assured, data for your newest orders are refreshed at least once per hour.

5. How do I see Orders by Status?

The top chart, labeled "Order Count" has a toggle slider in the top right-hand corner which allows you to switch between a line chart of order count and a stacked bar chart by order status.

6. What do the different order statuses mean?

Orders can have various statuses depending on their current conditions. Here are the definitions for each status:

Order Status

Definition

Unfulfilled

The order has been placed but is awaiting fulfillment.

In Transit

The order has been shipped to the shopper but has not yet been delivered.

In Trial

The trial period has started, typically triggered when the order is delivered to the shopper.

In Return Flow Period

The trial period has ended, and the order is in the return flow period to allow time for return shipping and processing.

Complete and Captured

The order has been completed successfully, and the shopper has been charged for the full or partial order value.

Cancelled

The order was canceled before the product was fulfilled.

Completed

The order was completed unsuccessfully, and all items were returned to the merchant.

Order statuses are updated based both on order information TryNow receives (i.e. when an order has been fulfilled, and when it has been delivered), as well as time-based data (i.e. the number of days that have passed in the trial period). All orders will eventually be in one of the last 3 statuses upon closing.

7. What time zone is the data in?

Data will populate based on the timezone you have selected in the "General" tab of your "Settings" page.

8. How do I export data from the Insights Dash?

While we don't provide direct exports for the tiles, we will be updating the functionality soon to provide an easy way to export the list of TryNow orders from the period displayed in your Insights Dashboard tiles. Check back soon for more updates.

9. How do I get more data or dig deeper?

For a comprehensive view of your entire e-commerce store, we recommend using Shopify's data directly as the source of truth. Shopify offers robust analytics and reporting features that allow you to dig deeper into your overall business performance. By leveraging Shopify's data capabilities, you can gain more insights and perform detailed analysis beyond the scope of the TryNow Insights Dashboard.
