How Manual Payment Capture Works with TryNow
Updated over 5 months ago

TryNow is compatible with merchants that have payment capture settings set to Manual instead of Automatic. We understand that fraud detection solutions commonly require merchants to set payment capture to Manual. It is very simple to make our system compatible.

How does TryNow work with Manual Payment Capture?

Through our settings, you can define the signals, such as a period of time or order tag being added, that will trigger our system to proceed with an order. After this signal occurs, for fully TryNow orders, our system will release fulfillment and place an authorization hold. For mixed cart orders, our system will release fulfillment, capture payment for the non-TryNow items, and place an authorization hold for the TryNow items.

We do not proceed with these actions until the signal you define occurs so that you can perform your proper checks needed.

How do I configure these settings?

Step 1: Navigate to your Controls > Payment Capture settings in Merchant Portal.

Step 2: Configure settings in the "Payment Capture Settings" section.

Through these settings you can define the signals that TryNow should wait for before proceeding with our typical actions of releasing fulfillment, placing an authorization hold, and capturing for any payment needed.

Step 3: Hit the "Save" button.

Common Use Cases

  • Some fraud detection solutions use tags to indicate whether their analysis approved the order or flagged the order as high risk. In this case, you would select the option "Release fulfillment and place authorization after an order tag is added" and fill in the tag that is added to approved orders.

  • You may have a process to validate orders and cancel fraudulent orders after a certain period of time. Perhaps your fraud analysis always takes 1 hour to run and cancels the order within 1 hour. In this case, you would select the option "Release fulfillment and place authorization after a number of hours" and you would enter in 1 hour.
