How to Let Members Post in a Subspace

When creating a subspace, you can choose if members can post. You can also update that setting anytime from Sub Space Settings.

Updated over 5 months ago

🧼 TL;DR:

  • You can allow members to post when creating a subspace

  • If left unchecked, it defaults to reply/reactions only

  • You can change this anytime in Space Settings

What’s the Default Behavior?

When you create a subspace, there’s an option:
“Allow any member to message in this subspace”

  • ✅ Checked = Anyone in the subspace can post

  • ❌ Unchecked = Only admins/mods can post; others can reply or react

If you leave this box unchecked, the subspace becomes reply/reactions only by default.

How to Let Members Post (After Creation)

  1. Go to the subspace

  2. Click the three dots (⋯) in the top right

  3. Select “Space Settings”

  4. Choose the subspace you want to edit

  5. Check the box:
“Allow any member to message in this subspace”

  6. Click Save Changes

Changes apply immediately.

When to Turn This On

Enable posting when the subspace is meant for open team participation, like:

  • Shift coverage or swaps

  • Discussions

  • Feedback or idea boards

💡 Pro Tip:

Want to keep the subspace clean? Leave posting off and use it for announcements only—replies and reactions still work great for feedback.
