What Is a Community/Feed?

A Feed (also called a Community) is a space for sharing updates, shoutouts, and announcements with a specific group of people.

🧼 TL;DR:

  • Feeds = broadcast-style update channels

  • Can be for the whole company or a specific team/topic

  • Everyone in the feed can post and comment

📣 What Is a Feed?

A Feed is a place to share important updates, announcements, and recognition with a group—not just individuals. It’s like a bulletin board meets a social feed, built for frontline communication.

We also call these Communities—you may see both terms used.

🧩 Common Types of Feeds

  • Company Feed – for org-wide announcements

  • Announcement-Only Feed – locked down to Admins for critical updates

  • Department Feeds – HR, Sales, Marketing

  • Regional or Store Feeds – East Coast, Store 118

  • Interest or Topic-Based – DEI, Health & Wellness, Sales Wins

🌐 What’s the Global Feed?

The Global Feed is created by your organization and automatically includes everyone. It’s often used for company-wide communication and high-visibility messages.

Admins control the content in this feed to ensure key updates reach all employees.

🔒 Feed Visibility Types

  • Global – Everyone automatically joins

  • Public – Anyone can find and join

  • Private – Request to join; approval required

  • Closed – Invite-only and hidden from search

You’ll only see posts from feeds you’re in (plus the Global Feeds) in your Smart Feed.

✍️ Who Can Post?

Right now, all members of a feed can post (except in locked announcement feeds). Admins help guide content but don’t limit participation by default.

💡 Pro Tip:

Use feeds when info needs reach—whether it's a store update, a recognition wall, or an official announcement. Posting in the right feed keeps everyone aligned and informed.
