Written by Sabina Sokolowski

This glossary defines terms used across the Unplex Help Center. Where a term has a dedicated article, a link is provided for full detail.

Account Role

The permission level governing what a user can do across the entire workspace: Owner, Admin, or Member. Independent of Seat and Project Role. See Account Roles.

Agent

A building block that reasons about a task, decides on an action, observes the result, and reasons again — repeating until it has enough to answer. Custom Agents are built in Agent Studio. See How Unplex Works.

AML (Anti-Money Laundering)

Regulatory obligations under GwG requiring firms to document and verify the source and purpose of client funds. See Compliance Workflows.

Assistant

A saved, one-shot helper available in the chat sidebar and the Word/Outlook Add-in — text in, text out, one call, no follow-up steps (e.g. Translate, Rewrite in formal tone). See How Unplex Works.

BGFA

The Swiss Federal Act on the Free Movement of Lawyers, governing attorney conduct and professional obligations, including conflict-of-interest rules.

BGer

Bundesgericht — the Swiss Federal Supreme Court. Decisions are cited by decision number and are a primary source layer for Swiss legal research.

Confidence and Evidence Scoring

An internal mechanism that scores each Unplex output for confidence and evidence quality; low-confidence responses are restricted, rejected, or escalated rather than returned as an answer. See How Unplex Prevents AI Hallucinations.

Connector Agent

An Agent scoped to a single connected system (e.g. the PMS, Outlook, market data), with access only to that system's tools. Automatically available once a system is connected; the natural specialist when a broader request needs data from that one system. See How Unplex Works.

CRM

Customer Relationship Management system — used in the wealth management context to refer to the client and mandate record system (e.g. Vertec).

Deployment Tier

One of three configurations governing where Unplex data storage and AI inference run: Standard, Swiss-Only Routing, or Fully Self-Hosted. See Deployment Options.

Deep Research Agent

A specialized Agent for open-ended research: it clarifies the question, breaks it into several focused sub-questions, researches them in parallel across the web, and synthesizes a single report. See How Unplex Works.

Due Diligence Memo

A structured document produced from a fund prospectus or factsheet, covering strategy assessment, cost analysis, risk flags, and a suitability check. See How to Review Documents with Unplex, Section 4.2.

ERP

Enterprise Resource Planning system — the firm's system of record for matters, mandates, contacts, time entries, and documents (e.g. Vertec, Assetmax, Abacus). See Connecting Your ERP.

FedLex

The official platform for Swiss federal legislation; the primary official source for statutory provisions in Unplex legal research.

FIDLEG / FINIG

Swiss Financial Services Act (FIDLEG) and Financial Institutions Act (FINIG) — governing conduct, suitability, and appropriateness obligations for financial service providers and institutions.

FINMA

The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority. FINMA circulars and guidance shape ongoing compliance obligations for regulated firms.

GwG

The Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act (Geldwäschereigesetz). See AML above and Compliance Workflows.

KYC

Know Your Customer — the client identification and due diligence documentation required under AML regulation.

Mandate

In the wealth management context, the client relationship and associated portfolio governed by an investment management or advisory agreement.

Matrix Analysis

A batch analysis run across multiple documents at once (up to 100 per analysis on the standard tier), producing a structured comparison or extraction. See Supported File Types and Document Limits, Section 3.

Multi-Agent Delegation

Handling a request that spans several independent sub-tasks across different systems by delegating each part to the relevant Connector Agent or specialized Agent in parallel, then combining the results into one answer. See How Unplex Works.

Note Element

A session-scoped scratchpad in the AI Workspace used to retain key findings across research steps within a session. See How to Research with Sources, Section 3.3.

OCR

Optical Character Recognition — the technology used to extract text from scanned documents and images. See Uploading and Processing Documents.

PII Guard

Unplex's internal pseudonymization step, replacing names, account numbers, and other identifying details with placeholder tokens before text reaches an external AI model. See Data Residency in Switzerland.

Playbook

A firm's internal standards, preferred clause formulations, or risk thresholds uploaded to a workspace, used as the primary reference layer ahead of statutory or generic sources.

PMS

Portfolio Management System — the system holding portfolio, position, and transaction data for a wealth manager, distinct from but often integrated alongside the CRM.

Project

The working container in Unplex combining documents, team members, and AI tools for a specific matter, client, or workstream. See How to Create and Manage a Project.

Project Role

The permission level governing what a member can do within a specific project: Owner, Editor, or Viewer. Independent of Account Role. See Project Roles.

Pseudonymization

A specific, legally defined technical measure in which identifying data is replaced with tokens but can be restored via a mapping held exclusively within the Swiss-hosted tenant. Distinct from anonymization, under which data cannot be restored. See Data Residency in Switzerland.

Restriction Comment

Documentation of an investment restriction applied to a mandate, checked for completeness and consistency with signed investment guidelines. See How to Verify Citations & Compliance with Unplex, Section 3.2.

Seat

A named licence required to use the product, independent of Account Role. A user without an assigned seat cannot use Unplex regardless of role. See Managing Seats and Licences.

Source Citation

A verification badge attached to a data value in a chat answer, showing where the value came from and whether it matches the original source. See Source Citations.

Suitability Profile

The documented assessment of a client's risk profile, investment objectives, financial situation, and knowledge and experience, required under FIDLEG. See Keeping Suitability and Investment Profiles Up to Date Automatically.

Workflow

A fixed, multi-step pipeline authored visually, combining Assistants, Agents, and standard actions (document generation, email, translation) in a defined order, with optional human-approval checkpoints. See How Unplex Works.

Workspace

The top-level Unplex account for an organization, containing all projects, members, and workspace-wide settings such as billing and account roles.
