Overview

The Product Manager is the source of information about all the items in your inventory and allows you to view, add, edit, and manage all products in Upright Lister.

Each product is a digital representation of a physical item. From the Product Manager, you can find information about the status of an item, along with a digital paper trail of every step an item has taken. This includes its journey from a supplier store to being listed and sold online or recycled and removed from inventory.

Understanding the Difference Between a Product and a Listing (and why it’s important)

Before we begin, a fundamental understanding of Upright Lister is knowing the difference between a Product and a Listing.

A Product is the digital representation of a physical item in your inventory, and a Listing is a digital representation of an item as it appears on an online marketplace.

One product may be connected to multiple listings as it posts to online marketplaces, but each listing will link back to the original product. If you need to edit an active or future listing, follow these guidelines:

  • Editing a product will affect future listings but will not update any active listing on a marketplace.

  • To edit an active listing, edit the listing from the Listing page.

Generate Barcodes, Add Product, and Add Draft Buttons

For organizations that don't manifest items or only manifest certain products, the Generate Barcodes, Add Product and Add Draft buttons create new products that are unconnected to a supplier manifest.

💡 Operational Tip: These options are a great fit for smaller teams that may not need to manifest. If your team manifests every item, we recommend training your team to avoid using these tools, as products created via these methods are not connected to manifests.

  1. Generate Barcodes: Create and print new SKUs in bulk

    • Select the number of barcodes you want to print

    • Optional: Enter a prefix code to appear at the start of the SKU

    • Optional (but recommended): Click the “create drafts” checkbox

    • Click “Print” to print SKUs to your connected label printer

If you’ve selected the option to create draft products for your barcodes, you can scan the barcode in Link to pull up the draft product, add pictures, and begin the listing process.

  2. Add draft product: Add a product to Lister as a draft before the listing phase

    • This is beneficial if you don’t have time to list the product immediately

  3. Add product: Add and list a product in one sitting (does not allow the ability to save as a draft)
