Automations - Triggers & Filters

A deeper look into how our triggers and filters can help you create powerful automation in myne

Please read our How to Create Automations and Customer groups guide first before reading this guide to understand the basics on automations

Triggers

Triggers and filters control when an automation runs and which customers it applies to.

Every automation starts with a trigger. Filters and rules then refine who should receive it and when.

Automations are triggered by specific events, such as when a customer joins a group. The trigger defines the moment the automation becomes eligible to run.

For example, an automation might trigger:

  • When a customer joins a specific group

  • When a customer’s behaviour causes them to enter or leave a group

  • When a purchase is made

Once a trigger is selected, you’ll see a summary explaining when this automation will run, so it’s clear how it behaves.

Filters

Filters allow you to further narrow down which customers qualify for the automation.

Filters are optional, but they’re useful when you want to exclude or include customers based on additional conditions. For example:

  • Only include customers who are in a specific group

  • Exclude customers who are already part of another group

You can combine multiple filters to be more precise about who should receive the automation.

As you add filters, myne will show an estimate of how many customers currently match, helping you sanity-check your setup before going live.

Rules let you control whether the automation applies to:

  • New customers only (customers who match the conditions in the future), or

  • Existing and new customers (customers who already match now, as well as those who match later)

This is useful when you want to decide whether an automation should “catch up” existing customers or only apply going forward.

Some triggers support scheduled runs, allowing the automation to run at a set frequency rather than immediately.

When scheduling is enabled, you can choose:

  • How often the automation runs (e.g. daily)

  • The time of day

  • The timezone the automation should follow

Scheduled automations are useful for recurring checks, such as identifying customers who meet certain conditions and acting on them at regular intervals. Schedules will refresh the membership of the group selected.

Triggers and filters work together to ensure automations run at the right time, for the right customers, without unnecessary noise.

If you want to control how often the same customer can receive an automation, this is handled separately using repetition and frequency limits.
