How do I set up a V1CE card I bought for someone else?
On V1CE ClientCapture OS, if you bought a V1CE card for someone else (as a gift, for a family member, or for an employee), the simplest path is to let the recipient set it up on their own V1CE account by tapping the card on their phone. If you already activated the card on your own V1CE account first, V1CE can help reassign it to the recipient's account so they own the page from then on. Your physical card and QR code do not change in either case.
If you already activated the card and now want to transfer it to someone else
If you activated the card on your own V1CE account and now want to transfer it to a colleague, send V1CE a photo of the QR code on the back of the card, your account email, and your colleague's email. V1CE moves the card across so your colleague can activate it on their own account by tapping the card. The recipient does not need to set up a V1CE account beforehand. The tap on their phone starts that process. The physical card and QR code do not change.
If the card has never been activated (still in original packaging)
If the card has never been activated, the simplest setup is to hand the card directly to the recipient and let them set up their own V1CE account:
Give the card to the recipient
They tap the card on their phone (or scan the QR code with their phone camera)
They follow the prompts to create a free V1CE account on their email
They add their own details and the card is activated to their V1CE page
From that point, the recipient owns their V1CE page and can edit it whenever they want. They do not need a subscription unless they want paid features.
If you already activated the card on your account
If you already activated the card on your own V1CE account (because you wanted to test it, or because the card was bought a while ago), it can be reassigned. There are two paths depending on what you want.
Path A: Recipient uses a V1CE page on your account (V1CE ClientCapture OS)
If the recipient is happy for the card to stay under your V1CE account (for example, a family member who doesn't want their own login), you can create a new page on your account, fill in the recipient's details, and reassign the physical card to that page:
Log in at app.v1ce.co
Go to Pages in the sidebar and create a new V1CE page for the recipient (use a name like "John's card")
Fill in the recipient's contact details on the new page
Save and publish the page
Assign your physical V1CE card to the recipient's new page in your V1CE dashboard. The change takes effect immediately
If you can't find the option to assign your card to a different page, your V1CE software may not have the feature on your plan. Contact V1CE support.
Path B: Transfer ownership to the recipient's own V1CE account
If the recipient wants their own V1CE account (so they can log in and edit their V1CE page themselves), the card needs to be removed from your account first and then linked to theirs. Contact V1CE support with the following:
A photo of the QR code on the back of the card.
The email address on your V1CE account.
The email address the recipient wants to use.
V1CE will look up the card, remove it from your account, and the recipient can then tap the card on their phone to activate it on their own account. The physical card and QR code do not change.
I bought the card a long time ago and never set it up
If you bought the V1CE card a long time ago and never activated it, it is still usable. Either follow the steps above (give it to the recipient unactivated, or activate on your account and reassign), or contact V1CE support with a photo of the QR code and the team will confirm the card is still active in V1CE's system before you proceed.
Does the recipient need a paid subscription
No. Every V1CE card comes with V1CE's software for life on V1CE Free Forever. The recipient can use the card to share their V1CE page without paying anything. If they later want paid features (Contact Capture, Smart follow-ups, CRM integrations), they can upgrade at any time.
If you are on legacy V1CE Plus, Pro, or Teams software
If your dashboard has a link switcher at the top, you are on the legacy V1CE software. On legacy, Path A works the same way using the link switcher and Tap/NFC Cards:
Log in at app.v1ce.co
Create a new link and a new Digital Card for the recipient
Fill in the recipient's contact details
Go to Tap/NFC Cards
In the Digital Card column for the physical card, click the edit pencil and select the recipient's new link from the dropdown
For Path B (transferring ownership to the recipient's own account), contact V1CE support with the same details listed above.
