When you see “Shipping Quote Required” (furniture & large items)

Some orders need an international shipping quote before the buyer can be charged the correct transport amount. The vendor dashboard shows a yellow Shipping Quote Required banner on the order detail page when that applies.

1. Where you see it

  1. Open Orders, then open the order.

  2. At the top of the order page, look for the yellow alert titled Shipping Quote Required.

You may see the same wording in the “New order” email The Oblist sends you.

2. When the banner appears (dashboard logic)

The banner is shown when all of the following are true:

  • The order contains at least one line item that the platform treats as needing a manual international shipping quote (see below).

  • The integrated shipping quote tool in the dashboard is not active for the environment (when it is active, this yellow banner is hidden and you use the Shipping section on the order instead—Get Shipping Quotes, etc.).

So: if you see the yellow banner, treat it as a hard action item—do not assume checkout already has the final shipping price.

3. Which products trigger it

Two cases:

A — Furniture & related categories

If the product’s category on the platform matches one of these (word match on the category string), the line can require a quote:

Armchair, Bench, Chair, Dining table, End tables, Furniture, Lounge chair, Low table, Nightsand, Nightstand, Shelves, Side table, Sideboard/cabinet, Sofa, Stool, Table, Headboards

(The platform uses the category stored on the product; keep categories accurate when you create or edit listings.)

B — Specific large / fragile SKUs

A separate list matches exact product titles (case-insensitive) for certain large lighting, mirrors, and similar pieces. If your product title matches one of those entries, it will also require a quote—even if the category is not “furniture.”

4. What you must do (step by step)

  1. Read the list in the banner: it names every order line that needs a quote.

  2. Email customer service immediately at customer@oblist.com (you can use the Contact customer@oblist.com button on the banner).

  3. In your message, include at least:

    • Order number

    • Which SKU(s) need the quote (copy the titles from the banner)

    • Pickup address (or confirm it matches your saved shipping origin)

    • Product weight and dimensions if you have a carrier quote or if the team needs to book transport

    • Any carrier quote or estimate you already obtained (PDF, amount, currency, incoterms if relevant)

  4. Wait for The Oblist to confirm shipping with the buyer and to update the order/checkout side. Do not promise a ship date to the buyer until costs are agreed through the platform.

  5. Do not ignore the banner on international orders: delays here block correct charging and can delay fulfilment.

5. If you do not see the banner but shipping is still unclear

  • If your account uses the integrated Shipping block on the order, request quotes there first (Get Shipping Quotes), then follow the on-screen states (estimate vs bookable quote, custom quote, etc.).

  • If you are unsure whether your product should be flagged, write vendors@oblist.com with the product URL or ID before you take a large international order.

6. “Shipping Quote Order” badge

Some orders are created only to collect a shipping quote charge for an earlier order. If you see a Shipping Quote Order badge, follow any instructions from The Oblist team or support—those orders are not standard product-only shipments.
