Relationship category and segment permissions

Overview

SRM is part of an ongoing category management cycle and segmentation that starts with understanding business priorities and needs and developing strategies around these. To facilitate user management, Organization admins/Company admins are now able to assign two new roles at the Category and Segment level respectively.

Category/Segment Admins

Adding a user as a Category or Segment Admin means that they will receive Relationship Manager permissions for every relationship within that category or segment and for any future ones created under these.

Category/Segment Reporting Admins

Adding a user as a Category/Segment Reporting Admin means that they will receive View-only permissions for every relationship (and all related data) within that category or segment and for any future ones created under these.

How it works

The how-to described below is the same for both new roles under Categories and Segments.

  1. To promote someone, navigate to a company's settings followed by Relationships.

Best practice advice: To avoid a messy library and keep all the information in one place, you may want to build all your segments and categories at the top level of your organization tree and share down with other companies as needed.

2. Select either Categories or Segments, depending on which permissions you would like to assign. You will notice a new "Manage Permissions" button for each existing Category or Segment.

Manage Permissions will not show for imported categories or segments from another company. To amend the permissions for an imported object, navigate to the original company where it was created. If you hover over the grayed-out Edit button, the system will indicate its origin company.

3. Click on Manage Permissions for a designated category/segment, then Add Users to invite someone.

4. The next modal will load all the available users to assign.

If the user you are trying to add doesn't have an active Vizibl account yet, you can Invite New and a separate modal will be displayed, where you can insert the details of the person you are adding:

Newly invited users will be "Pending" unless an admin approves their access and the invite is triggered. See more about user statuses here

5. Once you've decided on the details of the user that are being added, all that's left is to pick their role from the dropdown, then click Continue.

6. Lastly, you will be presented with a summary page of the changes you are making and can save the new user addition to the category/segment team/

Category and segment permissions are the easiest way of giving view access or relationship admin to many relationships associated with a specific one, without having to go through the manual addition of each user to each relationship team.
