How to configure the Stripe Connect onboarding process.

If you have configured and saved the General and Details tabs, the Stripe Connect tab can be edited.

Configuring the Stripe Connect tab

Important: If you want to list products/services on your shop, or respond to RFQs then you need to complete the Stripe Connect set-up. If you only wish to have a shopfront (i.e. a business listing) then you do not need to complete the Stripe Connect set-up.

The Stripe Connect tab has a Register button. Clicking on this starts the registration process.

The first step is to add the details of the bank account you want to be paid into. You will be asked for your business account name and account number and a bank routing number (which can be ignored). Note the account number must be entered without dashes or gaps.

Clicking on continue will take you to Stripe where you will need to complete business and identity verification.

Warning: All the information that Stripe requires must be provided to complete the process. Stripe clearly outlines any information that is incomplete. You will not be able to receive any payments until this process has been completed.

Note: The Stripe onboarding must be completed by the business owner or someone with significant management responsibility of the business.

Tip: If you already have a Stripe account associated with your business use the email you have used previously and your existing account will be selected.

Stripe determines what questions need to be asked and what information is required based on your selections.

Information That May Be Collected

  • Business Type - Select from a dropdown list.

  • Bank Account Number - For payouts

  • Company Name

  • Company Address

  • Company phone

  • Company Website Address

  • Company New Zealand Business Number (NZBN)

  • Representative Name (the person completing the process)

  • Representative Date of Birth

  • Representative Address

  • Representative Email

  • Representative Phone

  • Representative Job Title

  • Representative relationship with the business

  • Directors Name (Each director is required)

  • Directors Date of Birth

  • Directors Email

  • Directors Job Title

  • Owners Name (Each owner is required)

  • Owners Date of Birth

  • Owners Address

  • Owners Email

  • Executives Name

  • Executives Date of Birth

  • Executives Address

  • Executives Email

Additional Verification

Based on your responses Stripe may require verification documents for individuals and/or the business.

For individuals:

  • Proof of identity is via driving license (front and back) or passport.

  • Proof of address can be a utility bill, local council letter, insurance policy, car rego, or financial statement.

For Businesses:

  • Legal identity verification is via a statement from financial institution, GST registration, NZBN Registration Extract, NZ Certificate of Incorporation, NZ Companies Office Company Extract.
