The Campaign Automations feature in Whippy allows you to set up automated follow-up actions based on recipient responses. By using keywords, you can trigger specific actions to engage your audience more effectively. This guide will walk you through the steps to add automation to your campaigns.

1. Create a New Campaign or Select an Existing One

Start by creating your campaign in Whippy by following this link https://app.whippy.co/campaigns/create

2. Create Your Message and Include a Keyword

Compose the message you want to send to your audience. Include a simple, unique keyword in the message that stands out. For example, you could ask recipients to reply with the keyword "OPEN." You can create any keyword you like, but it needs to be clear and unique. Some common keywords include:

  • YES

  • NO

  • Numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.)

3. Click on Save

Once your message is complete, click Save.

4. Under Automations, Click on Add Trigger

In the campaign settings, scroll to the Automations section and click on Add Trigger.

5. Choose the New Automation

You can choose from previously created automation templates. However, in this example, we're creating a new one.

6. Click on Keyword Trigger

Select Keyword Trigger from the available options. This will allow you to set up an automation based on the keyword response from your audience.

7. Create the Keyword You Mentioned in the Message

Under the Keywords section, create the keyword you mentioned in your campaign message (e.g., "OPEN"). This keyword will trigger the automated action.

8. Add the Action

After creating your keyword, click "Next - Add Action" to proceed.

9. Add a Follow-up Action

Compose the message or select the action you want to occur when a contact replies with the keyword. By default, sending an automated response is selected, but you can choose other actions from the dropdown menu.

10. Click on Save Keyword Automation

Finally, click Save Keyword Automation to apply your settings. If you receive a "Failed to create campaign trigger" error, this may indicate you have exceeded the limit of 10 keywords for the trigger. Remove any excess keywords and try saving again.

11. Finish and Send the Campaign.

Your triggers have been set up. You can now send your campaign and see the automated action happen!

Feature Tip:

πŸ’‘Tip: If you receive a Failed to create campaign trigger error, this means you have too many keywords set up for the trigger.

πŸ’‘Tip: There is a limit of 10 keywords. If your trigger has more than 10 keywords, remove the excess keywords, and you can then save the trigger.
