In Whippy, you can create and enable keyword automations to trigger specific actions when contacts send you a message containing a particular keyword. Follow the steps below to create a keyword automation.

1. Go to the Automations Page

Navigate to the Automations page in Whippy https://app.whippy.co/automations/keywords

2. Click the Create Keyword Button

Click the Create Keyword button to start creating a new automation.

3. Specify Basic Information

  • Enter Keywords: Type the keyword(s) you want to automate.

  • Negate Keywords: Optionally, enter keywords you don't want to trigger the automation.

  • Choose Keyword Match Option:

    • Message contains keyword: Trigger if the keyword is part of the message.

    • Message exactly contains keyword: Trigger only if the message matches the keyword exactly.

  • Select Keyword Channels: Choose the channels where this keyword will apply (e.g., SMS, Email).

4. Click Next - Add Action

Click Next - Add Action to define what happens when the keyword is detected.

5. Select Action Type from the List

Choose an action from the list of available actions. For this example, we choose Send Message.

💡Available actions include:

  • Send Message

  • Add Tags to Contact

  • Remove Tags from Contact

  • Assign User

  • Unassign Conversation

  • Opt Contacts In/Out

  • Notify Users

  • Add/Remove from Sequence

  • Move Sequence Step

  • Update Conversation Status

  • Send Email

6. Enter the Auto-Response Message

Type the message you want to send automatically when the keyword is triggered.

7. Save the Trigger

Click Save to save your keyword automation.

8. Done!

Once the contact sends a message containing the specified keyword, the automation will be executed.

Feature Tip: How to Enable/Disable a keyword

Your automation keyword is enabled by default. You can disable it by toggling off the automation on the Keywords page.
