Why it matters
Locating a specific message in a long conversation saves time and improves accuracy. Whippy’s in-conversation search lets you quickly find messages using keywords or phrases without scrolling through the full history.
Key Concepts
Omni-Channel Inbox: The main Whippy hub where all SMS, email, call, and Voice AI interactions appear in one place.
Conversation: A unified communication thread between your organization and a contact, shown as a continuous view.
Contact: The person or entity linked to a conversation thread.
Step-by-Step: Search Within a Conversation
Go to your Inbox.
Navigate to Whippy Inbox to view all open conversations.
Select the conversation to search.
Open the specific conversation where you want to locate a message. Use the top search bar to find it quickly.
Click the Search Messages button.
In the conversation view, select the magnifying glass icon on the right sidebar to open the search panel.
Enter a keyword or phrase.
Type a keyword or phrase related to the message you want to find. Use precise terms to refine results.
Open the desired message.
From the search results, click a message to jump directly to its place in the conversation and review the context.
Tips and Best Practices
Use specific keywords or unique phrases to narrow results.
In-conversation search only applies to messages within that thread (it excludes undelivered messages and notes).
Each Whippy message has a unique ID and URL for sharing or revisiting a specific point in the thread.
To search across all conversations, use Global Search:
Mac: Command + K
Windows: Control + K
Then filter by All or Messages to find results across Whippy.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Possible Cause | Fix |
Search returns no results | The keyword isn’t in that conversation | Try a different spelling, a broader keyword, or check another conversation |
Wrong search function used | You’re using Global Search instead of in-conversation search | Switch to the conversation view and click the magnifying glass icon |
Message not found | Message may be undelivered or stored as a note, not an SMS | Verify message status or note type, then retry the search |
