MFA (Multi-Factor Authenticator) is a highly recommended security measure that requires users to verify their identity using different means of verification. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) enhances security by requiring more than just a password for login, making it significantly harder for unauthorized users to access accounts, even if a password is compromised. It adds an extra layer of protection, acting like an additional lock on your digital door, and significantly reduces the risk of breaches.
For our MFA, we use an OTP (One Time Password) that will be delivered either through an Authenticator App or via Text Message. The MFA can be set up for Admins only or for all of your staff.
This article will go over the steps that an individual will need to take to set up the MFA and make sure they will get their OTP.
When first setting up your MFA, you will need to log into your WorkBright account.
Once you have signed in to your account, you will immediately land on the MFA configuration page.
From this page, you can set up your MFA to work via an Authenticator App or a Text message.
The 5 steps for setup are generally the same, with a slight variation between the Authenticator App set-up and the Text set-up. Steps 4 and 5 will be the same for both setups.
First, let's look at the setup of the MFA with the Authenticator App.
Step 1: Make sure you have or are setting up an Authenticator App. We recommend Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. If you already have an Authenticator App, you can move to step 2
Step 2: Open up your Authenticator App and locate the add button or option to open the QR scanner. And scan the QR code. *Please note that the QR code in this article is an example; the one you will need to scan will be on your account.*
Step 3: Enter the code that is generated for you via your app. Please remember that the code is updated consistently so you will need to check for your most updated code to input.
Step 4: You will get a list of backup codes in case you are unable to get them from your Authenticator App.
Step 5: Confirm that you have saved your codes
After saving your recovery codes. You will be successfully logged into your account, and your MFA will be configured.
Now, let us look at setting up for text messages. Scroll to the bottom of the initial MFA set-up screen and click the button shown in the image below.
Step 1 and Step 2: In Step 1, you will add your phone number, confirm that it is the right number, and move to Step 2. Clicking the “Send Text Message” button.
Step 3: Enter the code that was texted to you.
Step 4: You will get a list of backup codes in case you are unable to get them via text.
Step 5: Confirm that you have saved your codes
After saving your recovery codes. You will be successfully logged into your account, and your MFA will be configured.
Now that your MFA is configured, your account is more secure.
Notes on NFA configuration:
You will be prompted to input an OTP every time you log in, so it is important that you remember the MFA configuration you set up App or Text. It is also very important that you keep your recovery codes in a place you can find them should you need them.
Authenticator App is our recommended MFA configuration as it is more secure and reliable than text.
The OTP changes, so make sure you are using the most up-to-date one available to you.
