LMT job ads have stricter editing rules because they may be used as supporting evidence for migration or sponsorship purposes.
Editing an LMT Job Ad
If the Labour Market Testing (LMT) toggle is turned on when creating the job ad, the ad will be treated as an LMT job ad.
For LMT job ads, you have 24 hours to make changes after the ad has been created or published.
After this 24-hour period, the job ad can no longer be edited. This restriction helps protect the integrity of the Labour Market Testing process and ensures the job ad remains consistent for reporting and compliance purposes. If you realise your job ad is incorrect after 24 hours of publication, you will need to unpublish the job ad and pay to post another one.
Editing a Standard Job Ad
If the LMT toggle is not turned on, the ad is treated as a standard job ad.
Standard job ads can generally be edited at any time from your Workinitiatives account.
However, please note that if the job ad has already been distributed to external job boards, including Workforce Australia, some updates may not automatically reflect on those external platforms.
Job Description Character Limit
When creating or editing a job ad, keep in mind that Workforce Australia has a maximum job description limit of 8,000 characters.
If your job ad is being sent to Workforce Australia, make sure the job description stays within this limit to avoid posting issues.
How to Edit a Job Ad
Log in to your Workinitiatives account.
Go to Jobs.
Select Job Ads.
Find the job ad you want to update.
Click the Actions menu.
Select Edit.
Make your changes and save the job ad.
If the edit option is unavailable, the job may be an LMT job ad that has passed the 24-hour editing window.
Troubleshooting
Why can’t I edit my LMT job ad?
LMT job ads can only be edited within the first 24 hours. After this period, editing is disabled to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Labour Market Testing record.
Can I edit a normal job ad after it has been published?
Yes. Standard job ads can generally be edited at any time within Workinitiatives.
Will my edits update on every external job board?
Not always. Some external platforms may not automatically update after changes are made in Workinitiatives.
Why is my job description not posting correctly?
If your ad is being sent to Workforce Australia, check that the job description is under the 8,000-character limit.
