How do I link my HMH-Ed and Schoology accounts in Writable?

Learn how to link your Writable account with Ed and Schoology.

Updated this week

If your district or school purchased Writable from HMH, Writable allows users to access Writable from HMH-Ed. If you have set up your Writable + Schoology integration, Writable also allows users to access Writable from Schoology. Writable users who plan to use HMH curriculum in Writable, and assign Writable assignments to Schoology, will need to complete a few steps to properly link their Writable account.

❗Note: If your district uses the HMH-Ed Linking Tool, you are still required to set up your Writable + Schoology integration.

Step 1: Launch Writable from HMH-Ed

Since Writable was purchased from HMH, both teachers and students will need to launch Writable from HMH-Ed. This launch from HMH-Ed allows Writable to initiate the user account, and grant access to the HMH curriculum (i.e. readings) in Writable. We recommend that step be done first, before using Writable with Schoology.

❗Note: First time users will also have the opportunity to connect a Google or Microsoft account.

Step 2: Access Writable from Schoology

To access Writable from Schoology, click on the 'Writable' link located in the left course navigation menu in Schoology. This 'Writable' link allows you to access Writable directly from Schoology, and sync your account information with Writable.

Step 3: Link your Schoology and HMH-Ed accounts

After clicking on the 'Writable' link from your Schoology course, you will be prompted to link your Schoology account with your existing HMH-Ed account in Writable. Click on the 'Launch from HMH-Ed' button to link the accounts. Upon clicking the button, you will be directed into your HMH-Ed account for verification.

❗Note: Please do not click 'Not right now' as this will create duplicate accounts in Writable. Duplicate accounts will cause content in Writable to be segmented, dependent on how the user accessed Writable.

Step 4: Return back to Schoology

Once you have accessed HMH-Ed, both Schoology and HMH-Ed accounts should now be linked in Writable. To confirm, exit HMH-Ed and return to the Schoology course. Click on the 'Writable' link again from the left course navigation menu. You should be directed into your Writable account, and not prompted to link your accounts again.

Step 5: Verify your 'Account Details'

From within Writable, click on your profile picture in the top right hand corner, and select 'Account Details.' You should see the connections for both HMH-Ed and Schoology under the 'Connections' section. This indicates that your HMH-Ed and Schoology accounts have been successfully linked.

❗Note: If you are missing either your HMH-Ed or Schoology connection, please contact Writable Live Support.
