Carrier Selection Logic

Our system determines which carrier generates a return label based on your specific configuration. There are three primary ways this is handled:

  • Return Carrier per Country (Default): Labels are generated based on the customer's country code. We map one specific carrier to each country by default.

  • Return Carrier same as Delivery Method: We can configure return carrier selection to match the original delivery carrier used for the order. We automatically import this delivery data from your e-commerce platform (e.g., Shopify, Centra, etc.).

  • Return Return Checkout (Add-on): This module allows you to offer multiple carriers for the same country or region, giving the customer the flexibility to select their preferred alternative.

Note: Configuration by delivery carrier and the Return Checkout module are available as add-on modules depending on your specific subscription plan.

Setup Requirements

To activate return label generation for your store, the following steps are required:

  1. Carrier Credentials: Merchants must share the required API credentials for every return carrier they wish to use as listed here.

  2. Custom Requests: If you require carrier selection based on the original delivery method, you must explicitly request our team to set up this mapping.

  3. Platform Integration: Ensure your e-commerce platform is connected so we can import the necessary delivery carrier details.

Label Delivery and Notifications

Once a Alabel is generated, it is delivered to the customer via email. You can choose between two delivery paths:

  • yayloh Notifications: By default, labels are sent via yayloh's automated return notification emails.

  • Third-Party Integrations: If you prefer to use your own email marketing tools, you can opt-in to send labels through integrations such as Klaviyo or rule.io.

Additional tips & Troubleshooting

  • International Returns: For cross-border returns, ensure your products have HS Codes and Country of Origin details in your e-commerce platform. We advice the delivery and return carrier is the same for smoother cross border clearance and VAT handling.

  • Address Validation: If a label fails to generate, it is often due to an invalid customer address or a missing phone number. Ensure these fields are mandatory in your checkout and troubleshoot based on details here.

  • Label Expiry: Generated labels typically have an expiration window (usually 28 days, depending on the carrier). If a label expires, a new return request may be required.
