Verify your domain so replies from yayloh Inbox come from your own support address, for example support@mystore.com. Customers recognize you, and your emails stay out of spam.
Setting up Inbox takes two steps: 1) verify your domain (this article), and 2) forward your support emails to yayloh. You only do this once.
Not technical? Forward this article to whoever manages your website or domain, such as your web agency or IT person. It takes them about 10 minutes. Do Step 1 yourself, then send them the records shown on your screen.
Why is this needed?
yayloh sends emails through Amazon, which only sends from verified domains. This protects your brand and keeps your emails out of spam.
You verify your domain by adding a few DNS records. Think of them as a public notice board for your domain, telling email providers that yayloh may send emails for you. You don't need to understand them, just copy and paste.
Step 1: Add your email identity
Go to Settings > Email identities.
Click Add email identity.
Enter your domain (for example
mystore.com) or a single email address.Click Add email identity.
Note:
Verify the whole domain. It covers every address at it, such as
support@andreturns@.Your domain keeps working as normal for your own email and other tools.
It cannot be added to another yayloh account. If you have several yayloh stores that use the same domain, contact support.
Step 2: Add the DNS records
yayloh now shows the records to add. Use the copy icons or Copy all.
Log in to where your domain is managed.
Open the DNS settings, often called DNS, DNS management or DNS records.
Click Add record.
Choose the Type, then paste the Name and Value from yayloh.
Set TTL to 1800, or keep the default.
Save, and repeat for each record.
Can't find it? Search for "[your provider] add DNS record".
Required: 3 DKIM records
These prove your emails really come from you. All three are needed.
Type | Name | Value | TTL |
CNAME |
|
| 1800 |
CNAME |
|
| 1800 |
CNAME |
|
| 1800 |
These are examples. Always copy the exact values from yayloh.
Recommended: DMARC record
Not required for verification, but it helps email providers trust your emails. Add it unless your domain already has one.
Type | Name | Value | TTL |
TXT |
|
| 1800 |
Step 3: Check the verification
Go back to Settings > Email identities and open your identity.
Click Check verification.
When all records show Verified, you're done.
It can take up to 72 hours. Until then, records show Awaiting verification. You can close the page and check again later.
Requirements and limitations
You need access to your DNS settings, or someone who has it.
Keep the records in place. If you remove them, yayloh can no longer send your emails.
One yayloh account per domain. If several of your stores use the same domain, contact support.
Only one DMARC record per domain. If you already have one, keep it.
Need to remove an identity? Contact support.
"Not your usual domain" message? That's fine, as long as the domain is yours.
Troubleshooting
Still "Awaiting verification" after 72 hours? Check that the name and value match exactly. Some providers add your domain to the name automatically. If so, enter only the first part, for example
abc123._domainkey.Still not working? Contact us with your domain and a screenshot of your DNS records.
Next step
Once your domain is verified, forward your support emails to yayloh so customer emails arrive in Inbox. See Forward your support emails to yayloh Inbox.
Advanced: Return-Path (most stores can skip this)
yayloh sets up mail.mystore.com for automatic bounce notices from mail servers, such as "this address doesn't exist." It's not where customer replies go, and it helps your emails get delivered.
Only change it if your IT person asks you to:
Use a different subdomain: enter it under Return-Path subdomain.
You already use
mail.mystore.comfor your own email: tick Do not set up a Return-Path on my domain, so your existing email keeps working. Your yayloh emails will still be sent.
