Page permissions in Analytics reports

If you've clicked an ad inside a report and got a Grant Page Access to Preview panel where the creative should be, you're in the right place. It's easily the question we answer most often — and the honest answer is that it's usually not your fault. So let us explain what's actually going on, and how to tell the difference between the version you can fix in two minutes and the version you can't fix at all.

Ad account access and Page access aren't the same thing

This is the bit worth internalising, because everything else follows from it.

When you connect Meta, you're giving Atria access to your ad account — that's what brings in spend, impressions, ROAS and every other number in your reports. But Meta treats the Facebook Page an ad runs from as a completely separate object, with its own separate permissions. To render the creative, Atria needs access to that Page too.

Which means you can have flawless ad account access and still not preview a single ad. It looks alarming, but it isn't: your data is unaffected. Spend, impressions, ROAS — all accurate whether or not the picture loads. It's only the visual that's missing.

The two-minute fix

Most of the time this is simply a permission that didn't get ticked on the way through Meta's consent screen.

  1. Open the ad that won't preview. The panel you'll see is headed Grant Page Access to Preview — click Edit Settings inside it.

[IMAGE: Grant Page Access to Preview panel exactly as a customer sees it inside a report, with “Edit Settings” clearly legible.] Do not skip this: going past it without opening Edit Settings is the single most common reason for "I granted access and nothing changed".

  1. Meta opens its reauthorisation flow. When you reach "Choose the Pages you want Atria to access", opt in to all Pages rather than picking through them.

  1. Do the same on the Businesses screen, review, and save.

  2. Come back to Atria and refresh the report.

One thing worth knowing before you go looking: this panel only lives inside the ad preview itself. There's no equivalent button on the report cards, and no banner telling you that six creatives are stuck behind one Page — so you do have to open an affected ad to reach it.

Our strong advice: tick everything. We know it feels tidier to select only the Pages you think you need, but a partially granted permission looks identical to a fully granted one from the outside — and then quietly breaks something three weeks later. It's the same trap that produces the 1/2 status over on Launch. Grant it all; you can always revoke later.

If you'd like to see each Meta screen, Required Meta App Permissions Missing walks through the reauthorisation flow click by click.

When granting won't help

Here's where judgement comes in. That panel currently appears for several quite different underlying reasons, and for some of them going round the grant flow is a dead end no matter how many times you try. If you've already been round the loop three times, it's almost certainly one of these:

The ad runs from a Page you don't manage.

This is the big one, and it's very common with partnership, whitelisted and creator ads. You can't grant Atria access to a Page you personally have no role on — Meta won't even offer it to you on the consent screen.

The fix lives in Meta, not in Atria: ask the creator or partner brand to assign your Business a role on that Page in their Business Settings. Once you genuinely have access, come back and grant it.

It's Instagram media.

Granting a Facebook Page doesn't unlock a creative that only exists as Instagram media — different object, different permission.

The ad's been deleted or archived in Meta. Once Meta removes the creative from their servers it can't be recovered, though your performance data stays exactly where it is.

We'll be straight with you: the panel isn't yet honest about which of these you're looking at, and making it say so properly is actively being worked on. Until then, here's the rule of thumb we'd use — if you've granted access twice and nothing changed, stop clicking and go and check whether you actually administer that Page in Meta Business Settings.

Previews failing for reasons that aren't permissions at all

Worth ruling these out before you go anywhere near a consent screen. An ad blocker or VPN blocking Meta's domains will break previews across the board; so will a very large date range timing out. Ad preview not loading in Reports? covers the lot, and we'd start there if every preview is blank rather than just some of them.

"I can't see some of my ad accounts at all"

Different problem, easily confused with this one. If an account you have in Meta simply isn't appearing in Atria, that's about how the account is shared at Business Manager level, not Page permissions — Launch Permissions: Why Is My Ad Account Showing 1/2? is the article you want, and Launch Permission Not Granted has the admin's steps.

Still stuck?

Send us the report link, the ad name and the ad account ID, plus a note on whether you administer the Page in question. That last detail saves a whole round trip.

And as always — if you'd rather just hop on a call and have us look at it with you, shout. Happy to help.
