How do I configure the Late Check-Out upsell?
The Late Check-Out upsell lets guests pay to check out later. Most of these settings can be replicated from the Early Check-In upsell.
Earliest time to accept a late check-out that blocks the night
If set to 3 days and a guest requests a late check-out before the threshold (for example, 4 days out), the system takes their card details and reserves the night. Once the 3 days pass, if the night is available, it blocks the night and charges the guest's card.
Latest time to accept a late check-out request
This is the latest point the system will accept a late check-out request.
If set to 16 hours, a request made within 13 hours is declined.
A request made within 17 hours is accepted.
Why this setting exists: it gives housekeeping time to plan, prevents last-minute operational disruptions, and protects your ability to turn the room for the next guest.
Exceptions
Decide whether to allow late check-outs on the first or last day of the month. You might turn this off for financial cut-offs, statements, operational rest days, pricing changes, deep cleaning, and similar events.
When to block the night on your calendar
Always block the night of departure — this means you do not allow same-day turns. The system blocks the night of departure when a late check-out is approved. This prevents the room from being sold that same evening and avoids service failures with incoming guests. Used by clients who do not allow same-day turns.
Only block the night of departure if the guest extends by more than a set number of hours — the system allows minor late check-outs without blocking. The night is only blocked if the late check-out exceeds your configured threshold. For example, with a 3-hour threshold and a standard 11:00 AM checkout: extending by 2 hours does not block the night, but extending by 4 hours blocks the night of departure, preventing a same-day turn.
Never block the night of departure — the night is never blocked, no matter how late the guest checks out, so the room can still be sold that evening. Used by clients who allow same-day turns without restrictions. This carries higher operational risk if a late check-out overlaps with an incoming guest's arrival.
Monetization
Set the amount charged for each hour of a late check-out. The most common and recommended setup is a percentage of the nightly rate, with 1, 2, 3, and 4+ hours priced at 15%, 25%, 35%, and 50%. We recommend sending the offer message 2–3 days before check-out.
