If some of your books are set up at Bookvault but not yet in Beventi, you can bring them straight into Beventi. Each title you import becomes a book in your catalog, already linked to Bookvault, so there's nothing to retype or match.
Nothing is created until you press Import, and you choose exactly which titles come across.
Before you start
Bookvault needs to be connected, and you need to be the account owner or an Admin.
You need a seller profile on Beventi. Imported books are added to the profile you're working in, so if you write under more than one pen name, switch to the right one first.
If a book is already in Beventi, link it instead of importing it. See "Link your books to Bookvault".
During first-time setup, the Import products step does the same job. If you skipped it, you can import from the Products page whenever you like.
Import your titles
Open your profile menu and choose Integrations.
On the Bookvault card, press Manage, then choose Products in the left menu.
Open the At Bookvault tab. It lists Bookvault titles that aren't matched to a book in Beventi yet.
Check the tag on each title: Ready to print, Awaiting Bookvault approval or Can't print. Beventi ticks the Ready to print ones for you.
To find a title, use the filter tabs (All and one for each tag), the Search title or ISBN box or the sort menu (Ready to print first, Newest first, Oldest first or Title A to Z).
Tick the titles you want, or press Select all (it shows how many, such as Select all 12, and turns into Clear once they're all ticked). It ticks every title in the filter and search you're looking at. The count beside it, such as "3 selected", shows how many you've picked in total.
Press Import (it shows how many, such as Import 12).
What happens next
If you're importing 25 titles or fewer, it finishes on the page, so keep the page open until it's done (leaving mid-import stops it after the items already sent). You'll see "We created 3 products. Review prices and details before selling." with a Review products button, or Review product if you imported just one.
Bigger imports run in the background, and you'll see "You can leave this page. We’ll notify you when the import finishes." When it's done, you'll get an email called "Your Bookvault import is finished" with a View products button. On the page, Bookvault import results shows what came across. Press Review products to check your new books, or Done to close it.
What an import creates
For each title, Beventi creates a book product that:
Uses Bookvault's title and ISBN.
Is set to Paperback or Hardback from Bookvault's binding. Anything else, such as a calendar or poster, arrives without a format so you can choose one.
Brings across the description, page count, weight, size and front cover when Bookvault has them.
Takes Bookvault's retail price when Bookvault lists one, in euros, pounds or US dollars. Titles without one arrive with no price.
Has Track inventory off, since Bookvault prints each copy to order.
Joins a book you already sell under the same title as its other format. For example, an imported hardback joins your paperback.
Is already linked to its Bookvault title. Your Linked list marks it Imported from Bookvault (or Unavailable, if Bookvault can't print it yet).
If a title is already in Beventi
Beventi checks ISBNs so it doesn't make a duplicate. If you already have a book with that ISBN, the row says "You already have this ISBN, so nothing new was created." Press Link instead to link your existing book to the Bookvault title. If there's no button, link it from the Your products tab or the book's Print on demand card.
If a title didn't import
Sometimes a title doesn't come across, for example when Bookvault doesn't answer in time, and the row says so. Tick it and import it again, or press Retry in the import results.
Check before you sell
After an import, Beventi reminds you to "Review prices and details before selling." Please do this for every new book:
Price: check it's the price and currency you want readers to pay. Add one if the book arrived without a price.
Details: read the description, and check the format and cover.
Order form: add the book to an order form so readers can buy it.
A title imported while it was Awaiting Bookvault approval or Can't print shows as Unavailable, and orders for it stay with you to ship. Once Bookvault can print it, the tag clears by itself. You don't need to import it again.
FAQ
Will importing create duplicate books?
Not when the ISBNs match. Beventi skips any title whose ISBN you already have and offers Link instead. A book without an ISBN can't be checked this way, so if it's already in Beventi, link it from the Your products tab instead of importing it.
Why does my imported book already have a price?
Bookvault lists a retail price for some titles, and Beventi brings it across as a starting point. Change it to whatever you want to charge.
Why is the format missing on my imported book?
Beventi only sets Paperback or Hardback. For other bindings, pick the format on the book.
Can I import my whole Bookvault library at once?
Yes, for most libraries. Big imports run in the background and you can leave the page. If your library is very large, the page says some titles aren't on the screen. Import the ones you can see, and link any others to books you already have with Find at Bookvault.
Why can't readers buy my imported books yet?
Readers buy through your order forms. Give the book a price if it arrived without one, then add it to an order form.
Do imported books print and ship by themselves?
They're linked, so their orders can go to Bookvault. Whether that happens automatically depends on your settings. See "How reader orders are sent to Bookvault".
