Three rules that save you a lot of work
1. First sync, then recalculate
First sync on the dashboard in the Integrations tab. There are two ways, both marked in the image:
▸ Marker 1, Sync All: updates all integrations at once. This is only available with Blockpit Plus.
▸ Marker 3, sync icon in the row of an integration: syncs only that integration. This works for all users.
Then click Calculation in the sidebar (marker 2). Many tips disappear just by this, because they were based on an outdated state.
2. Start with the oldest tip per asset
A single missing deposit from 2021 can trigger dozens of tips in the following years. In Transactions, filter by Tip and sort by date ascending. If you resolve the first one, the follow-up tips often disappear on their own after the recalculation.
3. Cause before correction
Auto-correction, balance matching and the label Non-Taxable make a tip disappear, but they do not fix the cause. So first look for the missing or duplicate transaction. For that, read the import scope of your integration: It states what it imports and what it does not.
How can I resolve particular tips myself?
Open the tip that is shown in your account.
Missing History
Missing History
Meaning: In this integration more of an asset went out than was there before according to your transactions. The calculated balance drops below 0. Blockpit shows the tip from a transaction value of €1.
Most common causes: a missing earlier deposit, a missing purchase or reward, a duplicate withdrawal or an integration that does not cover the whole period.
⚠️ Warning: Without history Blockpit does not know the cost basis. Depending on the label, the whole proceeds count as gain when you sell.
How to solve it
1️⃣ Open the oldest tip for this asset and note the date and amount.
2️⃣ In Transactions, switch on Ledger Mode. It shows the balance after every transaction, so you see where it tips.
3️⃣ Compare this period with the history of your exchange or wallet and fix what is missing or duplicate:
➕ Something is missing: add it manually or upload it via the Blockpit Excel template.
🗑 Duplicate: delete it. If it was deleted normally (soft delete), you bring it back with the filter View › Status: Deleted. If it was deleted permanently, it is gone and only comes back via Re-Sync.
✏️ Wrong: edit it.
ℹ️ Good to know: Pay attention to the integration type: With a Manual Integration, usually a row is missing in your file or entry, with an exchange or wallet integration rather a product or period that the interface does not deliver.
4️⃣ Start Calculation and check whether the tip is gone.
If the calculation is stuck or takes unusually long, hover over it in the sidebar and click Stop Calculation. Afterwards the state of the last successful calculation applies again. Then start it again.
🎓 If the balance stays incomplete or deviates significantly despite the recommended steps, this often points to individual features of your transaction history or data basis. In these cases we recommend Blockpit Expert Support, as a manual analysis of your Blockpit account may be required.
Last resort, auto-correction: Click the tip on the transaction and follow the steps.
⚠️ Warning: An auto-correction books the missing amount with a cost basis of €0. If you sell it later, the whole proceeds count as gain. It is a last resort, not a standard way.
Afterwards: The tip disappears after the calculation, often also the following ones of the same asset. You find auto-corrections by searching for Auto-Balancing in the label filter and choosing Auto-Balancing (In) or (Out). If you delete one, the old state is back.
⚠️ Common mistakes
✗ Connecting two transactions to resolve the tip → does not help, a missing label does not cause a missing history
✗ Starting with the most recent tip → you search in the wrong place, the cause is usually earlier
✗ Creating an auto-correction right away → tip gone, but cost basis €0 and gains too high
✗ Forgetting a manually created transaction and importing again → duplicate and a new tip elsewhere
ℹ️ Good to know: If a transaction is missing after a CSV or Excel upload, or a repeated upload imported 0 transactions, this is usually due to the date limit: For an existing integration Blockpit only takes over transactions newer than the most recent existing one. Choose an earlier import period in the upload dialog.
🎓 Missing history, API or CSV problems do not automatically mean an error of the Blockpit integration and can also be caused by limitations of the respective exchange or incomplete historical data. Often historical data, API permissions or certain transaction types are missing. If an individual analysis is required, we recommend Blockpit Expert Support.
Mismatched Balance
Mismatched Balance
Meaning: The exchange or wallet reports a different balance (Synced Balance) than Blockpit calculates from your transactions.
Most common causes: open Missing History tips, transactions outside the imported period, products that the interface does not deliver (for example the Bybit Funding Account), or a sync that is not completely finished yet.
💡 Tip: First resolve all Missing History tips of this integration. Afterwards the discrepancy is often already gone.
How to solve it
1️⃣ After a sync, wait until all new transactions are imported. The Synced Balance is retrieved slightly earlier.
2️⃣ Check whether all sources and all years are imported. What the integration does not deliver is described in the import scope.
3️⃣ Compare with the history of your exchange and add what is missing manually or via the Blockpit Excel template.
4️⃣ If only a small difference remains that you cannot explain, add a transaction with the label Non-Taxable (In/Out) at a suitable time.
🎓 If the balance stays incomplete or deviates significantly despite the recommended steps, this often points to individual features of your transaction history or data basis. In these cases we recommend Blockpit Expert Support, as a manual analysis of your Blockpit account may be required.
Last resort, auto-correction: Dashboard › Integration › Mismatched Balance › wrench icon. Blockpit balances the difference per asset with a transaction on today's date.
⚠️ Warning: An auto-correction books the missing amount with a cost basis of €0. If you sell it later, the whole proceeds count as gain. It is a last resort, not a standard way.
Afterwards: Both balances match on the Dashboard. You find auto-corrections by searching for Auto-Balancing in the label filter and choosing Auto-Balancing (In) or (Out), deleting them undoes them.
⚠️ Common mistakes
✗ Matching the balance while Missing History is still open → the actual error is covered up
✗ Correcting the difference right after the sync → the latest transactions still arrive afterwards and create a new discrepancy
Unlabeled
Unlabeled
Meaning: Blockpit does not know what this transaction is and therefore cannot classify it for tax purposes.
Most common causes: deposits and withdrawals from or to the bank, rewards without a clear identifier, transfers between two integrations whose halves are not connected, and unknown smart contract operations.
How to solve it
1️⃣ In Transactions, filter by Tip: Unlabeled Incoming/Outgoing and edit similar transactions together (bulk labeling).
2️⃣ Bank deposits get Non-Taxable (In), bank withdrawals Non-Taxable (Out). Select them all and choose the label in the bar at the bottom.
3️⃣ If a withdrawal and a deposit belong together, connect them to a Transfer or Trade. For this, filter by Unlabeled Incoming+Outgoing.
4️⃣ You change individual cases via the small arrow on the tip or in the sidebar of the transaction.
5️⃣ If the other side is not supported in Blockpit, create a Manual Integration (for example IOTA Wallet Manual) and turn the transaction into a Transfer to it.
✨ Blockpit Plus: For unclear on-chain transactions, open the row in Transactions, switch to Details and click AI Explanation. It describes the operation and, in clear cases, suggests an action: apply the label, mark as spam or reload from the chain.
For Arbitrum, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, BNB Smart Chain (BSC), Base and Optimism with Blockpit Plus. It overwrites an existing note, check the suggestions before you apply them.
Afterwards: The tip is gone after the calculation. You can change labels at any time, and you separate wrongly connected transactions with Split Transaction.
⚠️ Common mistakes
✗ Labeling a bank deposit as Trade or purchase → Blockpit calculates with a sale that never took place
✗ Labeling a Transfer between your own wallets as expense and income → a transfer becomes taxable events
✗ Setting everything to non-taxable across the board → real income or sales are missing in the report
Missing Value
Missing Value
Meaning: For the asset there is no euro price at the time of the transaction, neither at CoinMarketCap nor at CoinGecko or other Blockpit sources.
⚠️ Warning: If the tip stays open, Blockpit calculates with €0. If you sell the asset later, your gain is too high.
💡 Tip: First check whether you need a price at all: Blockpit values connected transfers and trades as well as airdrops without a price of their own. Trades against euro or an asset with a known rate are already valued.
How to enter a value
1️⃣ In Transactions, filter by Tip and Missing Value.
2️⃣ Click the three dots and choose Update Asset Value.
3️⃣ Enter the price per unit or the total value and save with Save Changes. Use the market price at the time of the transaction, preferably from your exchange receipt.
Afterwards: The tip is gone after the calculation. You correct a wrong value the same way.
⚠️ Common mistakes
✗ Entering today’s rate → cost basis and gains are wrong
✗ Entering a value although the transaction is actually a Transfer → a transfer becomes a valued inflow or outflow
Transactions Loop
Transactions Loop
Meaning: Deposits and withdrawals are connected so that they form a circle. This happens mostly with timestamps that are identical to the second.
How to solve it
1️⃣ Separate the transactions with Split Transaction.
2️⃣ Move identical timestamps by a few seconds so that the order is unambiguous.
3️⃣ Connect them again in the right order.
Missing Hard Fork History
Missing Hard Fork History
Meaning: At the time of the hard fork the original asset is missing in this integration. Proceed as with Missing History and check this asset.
Unsupported Label
Unsupported Label
This is what the tip is called in the app: Unsupported Label.
Meaning: The label is not allowed for these assets in your tax country. Choose another suitable label.
Undefined Tip
Undefined Tip
Meaning: Something went wrong on our side during the calculation. Write to us in the chat and name the transaction, we will fix it.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the tip still there after I resolved it?
Tips only disappear after the recalculation. Start Calculation in the sidebar and wait until it has finished.
What happens if I ignore a tip?
Your tax report is created anyway, but it can be wrong: With Missing History and Missing Value, Blockpit assumes a cost basis or value of €0, so gains are shown too high.
I have hundreds of tips. Where do I start?
In Account Health: It sorts by effect. Within an asset you start with the oldest tip, it often triggers the later ones.
Can I undo an auto-correction?
Yes. In Transactions, filter by the label Auto-Balancing and delete the transaction. After the calculation the old state is back.
Is a tip an error of Blockpit?
Usually not. Data is often missing because an exchange does not deliver it or because transactions are outside the imported period. If you suspect an error of the integration, report it with examples.
