Set up a Booster Store

Learn how a Booster Store works, how to set one up, and how to tie it to passes.

What's a Booster Store?

A Booster Store is a multi-purpose point of sale, similar to a concessions store. For example, you might sell season passes for one family to access all home athletic events for a school year, with different tiers for different price points (e.g. highest tier gives 10 passes, middle tier gives 6).

A Booster store can connect to a pass setup that defines exactly what each membership level grants. You create a pass setup in ticketing, then link it to the store. Each item the store sells, a membership tier, a piece of gear, a donation, is a product. After the store is linked to your pass setup, you set which passes each membership product grants on the product itself.

Booster stores can also carry gear, merchandise, and donation products alongside memberships. This article will cover what a Booster store set up with membership tiers looks like in practice.

Note: Pass and store years must be the same.

How it works

Note: "Pass" gets used at a few different levels in Bound, so it's worth keeping straight as you read. In Events → Ticketing, you build a pass setup: the container that holds the buyable things, called options (like a season pass or a family membership). Each option is then sold as a product in your store. When a supporter buys that product, they receive the individual passes it grants, the credentials that get people into your events.

These are the three core pieces of a Booster Store:

  • The activity pass setup, configured in Events → Ticketing. It defines the passes a supporter can buy and how many each membership grants. It must exist before the store can grant any passes.

  • The Booster Store is where supporters buy memberships and other products. On the store's Setup tab, you select the Category of Booster and connect the store to your pass setup.

  • The products are the membership tiers (for example, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze) and any gear or donation items. On each membership product, Ticket Options points to the setup option that defines its passes.

How a membership's pass count is set

The count comes from the option's Passes per Purchase setting:

  • Single: the purchase grants one pass.

  • Multi: the purchase grants several passes, either a fixed number you set or a number the buyer chooses up to a limit. A family or tiered membership that grants 10 passes is a Multi option.

Before building the store, create the activity pass setup the memberships will connect to, adding one option per membership tier and giving it a box office so the passes have an event to live in. For the full walkthrough, see Create pass setups.

Note: Confirm the setup's School Year matches the year you will build the store for.

Create a Booster Store

Go to Business Stores.

  1. Click + Add Store, then + Add New Store or + Add Store from Template.

  2. Under Category, click Booster.

  3. Enter a name, for example Booster Club Memberships.

  4. Add a Description. Give your buyers a quick overview of what's up for purchase in this store, where proceeds go, etc.

  5. Confirm the School Year matches the activity pass setup you configured.

  6. Confirm/edit the Start Date and End Date as needed. This is the timespan the store displays on your public site.

    • Note: The start date pre-fills with today's date, and the end date pre-fills with the end date of the selected school year.

  7. Confirm the default Stripe account is correct, or select the right one.

  8. Choose a Venue for sales tax purposes.

  9. Under Fund Allocations on the righthand side, choose the Payee where the revenue should be distributed. Keep payee default, choose a different account or a split plan.

  10. Review everything then click Create Store.

Note: A Payee must be completely set up before your store takes its first transaction. See Setting up Your First Payee and Adding Additional Payees.

Additional setup

After you create the store, you land on its Overview tab.

  1. From the tab bar, click Setup.

  2. Confirm the School Year, Category, and Name carried over correctly. If you added a Description, that carries over as well.

  3. Optional: add an Order Disclaimer.

  4. Optional: edit the Confirmation Email Note. A default message pre-fills.

  5. Under Ticketing Details, open the Ticket Setup dropdown and select the activity pass setup you created earlier (for example, Booster Membership Levels).

    • Note: The school year must match between the store and the ticket setup for the setup to appear and link correctly.

  6. Optional: add a Description for the ticketing section describing the process for acquiring the booster club activity passes.

  7. Leave Show on Public Page off unless you want the store visible on your public gobound.com site.

  8. Click Save Store.

Add Membership Products and Map Their Passes

Each membership tier is a product. After creating the product, you map it to the passes it grants.

  1. Click the Products tab.

    • If you started from a template, products are already listed.

  2. Click + Manage Products in the top right corner, then click + Add Product.

  3. Enter a Position number to set the product's order in the store's product list.

  4. Enter the product's Name (for example, Platinum Membership), an optional Description, and the Price.

  5. Set a Tax Value only if the product is a full or partial donation to your school.

  6. Confirm the Start Date and End Date for when the product is available for sale.

  7. Enter the Quantity Available. Set it to 1000 if the amount is unlimited; your reports still record the amount sold.

  8. Enter a Limit Per Transaction, or set it to 0 for no limit.

  9. Turn on Display on Public Store if the store is public.

  10. Under Ticket Options, connect this membership to the matching pass option from your linked ticket setup. Each pass option already carries its pass count (for example, the Platinum option grants 10 passes and the Gold option grants 6), so selecting the right option maps the membership to the passes it grants.

  11. Click Create Product. After the product is created, you can click Upload Photo to add an image.

Note: A membership grants passes only when its Ticket Options are mapped to the store's linked ticket setup. A membership with no passes mapped sells as a plain product.

Copy the Store forward

  1. Go to Business Stores.

  2. Select the store, and go to the Setup tap.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Copy Store.

You can also click Create Template from Store to create a template based on the store.

Note: The connected pass setup is handled separately. You must roll forward the pass setup(s) as well. See: Copy a ticket setup to a new school year. Once the new-year setup exists, link it on the store's Setup tab under Ticketing Details, and make sure the store and setup share the same school year.

Checkout

Once your products are in place, open the Checkout tab to see the store as it appears at the point of sale. Each product is listed with its price and an Add button, and the Subtotal updates as items are added.

Note: To sell and manage these passes in person, through an event's ticketing dashboard, see Access your ticketing Box Office and download financial reports.
