Custom fields and what they mean

A no-nonsense guide to creating custom fields

Custom fields are a great place to store extra information that is relevant to all employees across the company.

PLEASE NOTE: Employees are unable to enter or edit details in the custom fields boxes, only HR users can access this. They will also only show if there is an entry in the box.

To find the custom fields navigate to Configure > Settings > Modules you will need to turn the custom fields on by placing a tick in the box as highlighted below:

Here you will see 5 areas that you can fill in, the first 3 are reserved for text and the last 2 are for date format only.

The custom fields will then be available on the employee's profile under the custom tab. HR users can use the edit (pencil) icon to enter relevant information for the particular employee:

Please note, as a HR user, you can enable whether or not employees can see the content of the custom fields via Configure > Settings > Change what people can see and do:

Reporting: Custom fields appear on the report 'Data export' which is found by navigating to Reports > HR reports > Data export
