What Is the Automation Engine?
The Automation Engine is a paid add-on for Chariot that lets you automatically take actions when key events happen within your Chariot platform — without relying on manual follow-up or remembering to do it yourself.
Think of it as a set of rules you configure once: when this happens, do that (and sometimes: later also do multiple other things!). Actions can include sending an email or text to a lead, creating a task for your team, updating a job stage, adding a tag, and more.
Why Use the Automation Engine?
The Automation Engine is built around four core business outcomes for moving companies:
Win more booked moves — Follow up faster with new leads, revive stale quotes, recover unsigned estimates, and reach customers before they choose a competitor.
Save office time — Eliminate repetitive manual tasks like follow-up reminders, pre-move check-ins, and task creation.
Protect the customer experience — Make sure customers receive timely, consistent communication before, during, and after their move.
Drive repeat and referral revenue — Re-engage past customers, ask happy customers for referrals, and generate more reviews automatically.
How Is This Different From Chariot's Default Automated Actions?
Chariot's core software includes some built-in triggers and reminders — basic actions that fire based on standard events like sending an estimate reminder or a pre-move confirmation.
The Automation Engine is a separate, more powerful layer on top of that. It gives you full control to:
Build custom workflows from scratch or from Blueprints
Chain multiple actions together in a sequence
Set conditions and filters (e.g., only apply to residential moves, or only if a deposit hasn't been paid)
Control timing precisely
Monitor results with enrollment and action metrics
Note: The Automation Engine is a paid add-on and must be enabled for your account before you can use it. If you don't see Automation in your navigation, contact your Chariot account manager to get started.
Accessing the Automation Engine
Once enabled, you can access the Automation Engine from the Automations tab in your left navigation menu. Only users with the appropriate permissions will be able to view or edit automations — access is configured during onboarding.
