Publishing an Automation
Saving an automation does not make it active. To start enrolling leads and jobs, you need to publish it. The steps for this are quite simple and as follows:
Go to the Automations tab in your left navigation menu.
Open the automation you want to activate.
Confirm the trigger, conditions, actions, and any connected communication templates are set up correctly.
If any changes were made be sure to click Save
Click Publish.
Once published, the automation will begin enrolling leads and jobs that meet its trigger and condition criteria going forward.
Note: Publishing an automation does not retroactively enroll existing leads or jobs. It will only apply to records that meet the enrollment trigger from that point forward. Contact your Chariot account manager if you need a backfill for existing records.
Pre-Publishing Checklist
Before publishing, confirm:
The enrollment trigger is set correctly
Conditions are configured if needed (e.g., job type, move date, lead source)
All Send Email / Send SMS actions have communication templates connected
Action timing is correct (e.g., "2 hours after trigger" vs. "immediately")
Quiet Hours are configured for customer-facing communication actions
You've reviewed the automation for any overlap with existing Chariot default triggers
Stopping an Automation
To stop an automation from enrolling new leads and jobs:
Go to the Automations tab.
Find the automation you want to stop, and click to view that automations details.
Click the toggle to turn it off, or open the automation and click TURN OFF.
Chariot will give you the option of how to handle Leads and Jobs that have already enrolled in that Automation (keep going or stop the Automation for them).
Note: Stopping an automation does not delete it. It will remain as a draft and can be re-published at any time.
Making Changes to a Live Automation
If you need to update an automation that's already published:
Open the automation from the Automations tab.
Make your changes.
Click Save.
Click Publish again to push the updated version live.
Chariot will let you decide if the edits should apply to previous Leads / Jobs that have enrolled in the Automation.
