How to Create and Use Saved Estimate Templates

Save pre-built estimates for your most common job types so your team can load them in seconds instead of building from scratch each time.

Estimate templates let you save a pre-configured estimate — charges, format, pricing, and all — and load it onto any job in seconds. Here's how to create one and use it.

Creating a template

  1. Open any job and go to the Estimate tab

  2. Add the charges you want included in the template

  3. Select the Estimate Format you'd like to apply, along with any settings under that format and the estimate type

  4. Optionally adjust pricing or quantity fields on individual charges — these values will be saved as part of the template

  5. Click the three dots next to the Load Template button (or No Template if you haven't set one up yet)

  6. Select Save Template

  7. Give the template a name and click Save

Your template will now appear in the Load Template list on any job going forward.

Setting a default template

Before saving, you can optionally mark the template as your default. When a default template is set, it automatically loads on every new job you create — charges, format, and settings included — so your team doesn't have to manually apply it each time.

Loading a template onto a job

  1. Open the job and go to the Estimate tab

  2. Click Load Template and select the template you want

  3. The charges, format, and settings will populate automatically — adjust anything specific to this job before sending

Need to update an existing template?

Estimate templates can't be edited directly once they're saved. If you need to make changes, you have two options:

  1. Replace it yourself — Load the template onto a job, make your changes, then save it as a new template with the corrected name. Go to Settings > Estimate Templates and delete the old one.

  2. Contact Chariot support — Reach out via the chat bubble or at support@chariotmove.com and we can update the template for you.

Tips

  • Create one template per job type you run regularly — the time savings add up fast

  • Include common add-on charges (stairs, long carry, bulky items) with a quantity of 0 so your team can easily toggle them on without searching for the charge

  • Name templates clearly so anyone on your team can find the right one quickly
