Are you ready to optimize your moving estimates? Chariot's Crew Size and Hours Calculator make it easy. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process, ensuring you can tailor your estimates to your team's unique needs.

Locating the Calculator

After completing the move intake, head to the estimate tab. Look for the automatic crew and hours calculator in the top right corner (it will look like the image below). This tool provides a starting point based on basic assumptions, allowing you to refine the estimate according to your team's capabilities.

Base Estimate

The initial estimate includes details such as the number of movers, trucks, and time needed for loading and unloading. For instance, it might suggest 4.1 hours for a particular job based on the weight or volume (6,000 pounds).

Additional Factors

Dig deeper into the estimate by examining additional factors. These could involve flights of stairs, long carries, and other custom factors specific to the customer or locations. Adjust these factors to fine-tune the estimate for accuracy.

Customizing Factors

Chariot allows you to customize factors easily. For example, you can change the percentage of time added for flights of stairs or include specific custom factors like a messy house, which may add extra hours to the estimate.

Travel Duration

The tool considers travel time based on Google Maps data, factoring in the origin, destination, and return to the warehouse.

Override Movers Feature

Not satisfied with the initial crew size estimate? Use the "Override Movers" feature to experiment with different crew sizes and see how it impacts the total hours. This helps you find the optimal crew size for each job.

Applying the Estimate

Once you're satisfied with your adjustments, hit "Apply" to use the estimate for planning. The estimate will appear in green when it aligns with Chariot's lessons, but you have the flexibility to present a modified estimate to the customer if needed.

Conclusion

Chariot aims to enhance the estimating experience over time. If you have questions or suggestions on incorporating this feature into your processes, reach out. We're committed to making your estimating process smoother, more transparent, and replicable.
