Bills You Can Pay
We support a wide range of bills and everyday expenses. Here's our list of approved payment categories:
Rent — Pay your home, apartment, or student residence rent to your landlord or property manager. Residential rent only.
Utilities — Pay for electricity, water, and waste management services.
Insurance — Pay for home, auto, or pet insurance premiums.
Childcare & Education — Pay for daycare, K-12 and university tuition, and child support.
Income, Property, and Business Taxes — Pay income taxes to the CRA and Revenue Quebec, municipal property taxes, and business taxes.
Paying for Childcare Services
You can use Chexy to pay for childcare services via Interac e-Transfer, provided the recipient accepts e-Transfers. This includes paying a nanny, nanny-share arrangements, and sending your portion of childcare costs to a neighbour.
How to set it up:
Click New Payment
Select Interac e-Transfer
Enter the recipient's email address and payment amount
Choose one-time or recurring
If you pay twice per month, you can create two recurring payments. The recipient must accept Interac e-Transfers, and if they use auto-deposit, funds will be deposited automatically.
Why Can't I Use Amex for Some Categories?
Amex has restrictions on setting up certain types of payments. This means categories like transportation, telecommunications, gym memberships, wellness, contractors, and household expenses — with the exception of rent — aren't currently supported on Amex.
For these categories, you can use a Visa or Mastercard credit card instead.
Loans & Credit Card Payments Are Not Supported
Chexy does not support loan or credit card repayments. This includes:
Affirm
MBNA
Credit card payments
Personal loans
Lines of credit
Payees containing the word "Financial"
Student loans
Loan and credit product repayments are restricted under card network and compliance rules. Attempts may fail or be blocked. These restrictions are not configurable.
Loan and credit card repayments must be made directly through your financial institution or its official payment portal.
Bank Account Funding Not Supported
We don't support sending money to personal bank accounts, brokerage accounts, or savings accounts. We also don't support currency conversion. Chexy is designed for bill payments only, not for cash advances or account top-ups.
