Occasionally, an employee needs to clock in but doesn't see their job on the app. You still want them to clock in to start their time card. In this case, they can clock into an "Unknown" job. We still get a GPS track so you can see where they are when clocking in.

But you must edit the time card to the correct job before closing payroll.

About Unknown Job

Employees clock into an 'unknown' job for 3 reasons:

  1. They aren't on the Team to which the job is assigned

  2. They aren't scheduled for the job and don't have location services enabled. They can clock into an unscheduled job if their location services are on and they are GPS-located at the job site.

  3. Maybe the job is not yet in the system.

An 'unknown' job is a critical issue shown in red. Critical issues must be fixed for payrolls to be batched.

How to Fix the Unknown Job

First:

Ensure the job is in the system. Go to Jobs (I would change it to list view) - in the search box, start typing the name...

Not there? Here is how to Add a Job - the Quick way.

Next:

Click on the day with the issue - open that time card.

Toggle Scheduled and Unscheduled jobs to see what is available for the Teams the person is on.

- Choose the job and Save
