Go to More > Settings > Store Settings > Pickup and Delivery > Routes to view and manage your service areas for pickup and delivery.
Note: Pickup and Delivery is available on Pro, Grow, and Grow+ plans. Contact Support to discuss upgrading.
Even if a customer is nearby, they still need to fall inside a defined route to book pickup or delivery. Without a route covering their address, they won't be able to sign up or place an order, so it's worth double-checking your coverage after any changes.
Adding a route
Select Add Route to create a new route, then use the pencil icon next to any route to edit it.
Editing a route opens four tabs: General, Geofence, Time Slots, and Closed Dates.
General
Route Name
Active: Toggle on to make the route available to customers.
Uber Active: Available only in the US and Canada.
Price List: Select the price list for this route. This overrides your default Pickup and Delivery price list.
Custom Delivery Fee: Toggle on to set a delivery fee specific to this route.
Custom Minimum Amount: Toggle on to set a minimum order amount specific to this route.
Custom Turnaround Time: Toggle on to override your store's default turnaround for this route. You'll need to set the earliest pickup, earliest delivery, and minimum hours between pickup and delivery.
Geofence
Choose between two ways of defining your service area:
Standard Geofence: Draw your service area on the map. Generate a shape automatically from your store address using a circle (set a diameter in km or mi) or drive time, then fine-tune it by dragging corners. You can also draw a custom shape point by point.
Zip Code Geofence: Enter accepted zip codes separated by commas, for example
10001, 10002, 10003. Customers within these zip codes are automatically matched to this route. Partial zip codes aren't matched.
Note: Geofences shouldn't overlap between routes, including deactivated ones. Overlapping areas cause confusion at signup and make it difficult to diagnose pickup and delivery issues.
Time Slots
Select Add Time Slot to create pickup and delivery windows, or view existing ones. Each slot has:
Days: One slot is created for each day you select.
Start and End time
Max Bookings: The number of customers who can book this slot.
Availability: Choose Pickup & Delivery, Pickup Only, or Delivery Only.
Note: Once a slot's start time has passed, customers can no longer book it that day. For example, at 9:05am, a slot starting at 9am is no longer available. Breaking longer windows into smaller slots can help keep more options bookable throughout the day.
Closed Dates
View existing closed dates, or select Add Closed Date to mark a day when this route is unavailable. Toggle on Apply to All Routes to close that date across every route in your store, rather than just this one.
Deactivating a route
There's no way to delete a route directly. To stop it being offered to customers, open the route and toggle Active off. Deactivating a route doesn't cancel existing repeat pickups on it, customers just won't be able to book new orders or edit existing ones online, so it's worth checking for any repeat pickups on a route before deactivating it.
Things to note:
Customers attempting to sign up outside all your routes are logged separately, so you can review missed coverage and expand your service area if needed.
To expand your service area, add zip codes to an existing route or redraw its geofence to include new areas.
FAQs
How do I expand my service area?
How do I expand my service area?
Edit an existing route and either add more zip codes or redraw its geofence to cover the new area.
What happens to repeat pickups if I deactivate a route?
What happens to repeat pickups if I deactivate a route?
Deactivating a route doesn't stop existing repeat pickups already scheduled on it. Customers can't place new orders or edit existing ones online once the route is inactive, so it's worth reviewing repeat pickups on that route and reassigning or notifying customers as needed.
Can two routes overlap?
Can two routes overlap?
No. Overlapping geofences, even between an active and a deactivated route, cause confusion during signup and make pickup and delivery issues harder to diagnose.
