Choosing which data sources Coworker uses in chat

Focus your chats on specific connectors with the Data Source Selector.

Updated this week

By default, Coworker draws on all of your connected data sources when answering questions in chat. The Data Source Selector lets you narrow that focus — so Coworker only pulls from the sources most relevant to what you're working on.

You can also turn off Company Context entirely to chat directly with the underlying AI model, with no company data included.

The Data Source Selector

The Data Source Selector appears in the chat input bar on the Work page. It shows your connected data sources as selectable options — click any source to include or exclude it from your current chat.

To focus your chat on specific data sources:

  1. Click the data source area in the chat input bar. Your connected sources will appear as a list.

  2. Select or deselect individual sources to include only what's relevant. For example, select only GitHub and Jira if you're working through an engineering question, or just Slack and email for a communications task.

  3. Your selection takes effect immediately — Coworker will only search the sources you've selected when answering your next message.

Company Context toggle

The Company Context toggle controls whether Coworker uses your organization's data at all. This is powered by OM1 — Coworker's organizational memory layer, which synthesizes context from all your connected tools and data sources.

  • Company Context on (default): All connected data sources are selected. Coworker draws on your company's Slack, email, documents, meetings, CRM, and other connected tools to give you context-aware answers.

  • Company Context off: All data sources are deselected. Coworker responds using only the underlying AI model — no company data is referenced. This is useful when you want a general-purpose AI response without any organizational context.

Toggling Company Context on will reselect all connected data sources. Toggling it off will deselect all sources. You can then manually re-enable individual sources if needed.

Note: Your source selection applies to the current chat session. Starting a new chat resets the selector to include all connected sources by default.
