Copy any lines from an estimate or a costbook.

Loads into computer memory (the “clipboard”) a copy of lines selected in the estimate or costbook.

  1. Right-click (ctrl+click on some computers) to show the context menu.

  2. Click Copy.

Copy is an option only when one or more lines are selected in either the estimate or the costbook.

To select, copy and paste a line from the costbook to the END of the estimate.

  1. Click on the cost line to copy.

  2. Right-click (ctrl+click on some computers) to open the context menu.

  3. Click Add selected to the end of the estimate.

  4. Enter the quantity in the Cost Row Editor dialog box.

  5. Check figures in the Cost Row Editor to be sure they’re right.

  6. Click the Save button

To select, copy and paste a line from the costbook to the MIDDLE of an estimate:

  1. Click on the cost line to copy.

  2. Click Copy

  3. Click in the estimate just above where you want to make the insert.

  4. Click Paste.

  5. Enter the quantity in the Cost Row Editor dialog box.

  6. Check figures in the Cost Row Editor to be sure they’re right.

  7. Click the Save button.

To select, copy and paste lines from one part of an estimate to another:

  1. Click and hold on the first line you want to select.

  2. Still holding the mouse button down, drag the cursor down the page.

  3. The shaded background shows the lines selected.

  4. When the last line to be copied has been selected, release the mouse button.

  5. Click Copy to load a copy of those lines into memory (the “clipboard”).

  6. Click in the estimate just above the line where you want the copied lines pasted.

  7. Click Paste.

To move lines from one part of an estimate to another:

  1. Click and hold on the first line you want to move.

  2. Still holding the mouse button down, drag the cursor down the page.

  3. The shaded background shows the lines selected.

  4. When the last line to be moved has been selected, release the mouse button.

  5. Click Cut to delete those lines from where they are and load a copy of those lines into memory (the “clipboard”).

  6. Click in the estimate just above the line where you want the cut lines pasted.

  7. Click Paste.

Tips:

  • Lines copied from an old estimate can be inserted in a new estimate. Be sure to change the quantity to reflect units needed on the new job. See Copy from Estimate to Estimate.

  • Copy will not copy a subtotal line. To create a new subtotal, click Insert and Insert a Subtotal Line.

  • Any line selected when you exit an estimate will remain selected when you re-open that estimate.

  • Both paragraphs of text and cost lines can be copied from the costbook to an estimate. Text describing the cost line is pasted into the estimate automatically.

  • Paragraphs of text copied from the costbook to your estimate can be edited once in the estimate.
