You can build all your forms in Gearbelt using the Unit Reading field. It supports decimal values, displays the last recorded reading, and alerts operators if the entered value is incorrect. Operators can now submit both higher and lower readings, and all submissions are logged to the asset profile for full accountability.
What is the Unit Reading field?
The Unit Reading field in Gearbelt is a flexible input field that allows you to collect:
Hours, or
Kilometers
You can add it to any Gearbelt form and configure it just like other fields (e.g., make it required or rename the label).
Use the Unit Reading field when building your forms in Gearbelt Web:
Navigate to the Management tab in the sidebar and open the relevant category (Inspections, Issues, or Schedules).
Select the appropriate Forms tab (Inspection Form, Schedule Form, or Repair Form).
Click Create Form (green button on the far right).
In the form builder, drag and drop the Unit Reading field into your form.
Choose the default unit: Hours or Kilometers.
(Optional) Enable Required if operators must fill in this field.

Validating the entered number
After you enter a value in the Unit Reading field, a warning may appear underneath. If the value is within 20% above the last reading it will not show a warning. If it is much higher than 20% or lower than last reading, a warning will appear.
No warning: Value is within 20% of the last reading
Low reading Warning: Value is lower than last reading
Much higher reading Warning: Value is higher than last reading of more than 20%
โ ๏ธ Note: The warning will not block the submission. It is only meant to help you validate your input and avoid mistakes.
