Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA)

DCA (adding to an open position) is allowed on every plan within your max contracts. Here's how it differs from Martingale.

Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) is allowed on every plan: evaluations, Pro Accounts, S2F, S2L and live accounts.

What DCA is

DCA means building a position in parts at different prices instead of entering all at once, so your average entry price reflects each fill. It's allowed as long as your total open position stays within your max contracts.

Example (10-contract account): you buy 2 ES, then add 2 more at a lower price. Your 4 contracts have one average entry price, and you're still within your 10-contract limit.

Your drawdown level and any Daily Loss Limit still apply to the whole position, including open losses.

DCA vs Martingale

DCA (allowed)

Martingale (prohibited)

What you do

Add to an open position

Double the size of new trades after closed losses

Size limit

Within your max contracts

Keeps growing until a win or the account fails

Repeatedly doubling size on new trades after losses is Martingale, even if each trade stays within your max contracts.
