Recently, Zoom tweaked how it deals with app connections and API calls, causing headaches for many of us trying to integrate it into our workflows smoothly. Right now, there's a joint effort between us and the Zoom team to sort out these glitches, but we're not sure when it'll be all smoothed over. In the meantime, let's discuss some stopgap solutions to keep things running smoothly.
Hosting your virtual event on Zoom without the integration
1. Make sure the location of your event is set for "Online."
β
2. Next, once you have your Zoom Event created, you can add it to your "Virtual Events" tab, and you're all set! Go to Event Settings -> Virtual Events.
β3. Enter your Zoom link in the box below.
Zoom allows you to schedule your meetings, enabling you to enter this value early in the event creation process. Check out their article on how to do that here.
Thats it! You're ready to host your event virtually!
Keeping everything safe and secure
A common problem is unauthorized access, where people who shouldn't be able to join can use the link to watch. This becomes more concerning when the Zoom integration isn't working as intended. Let's explore how we can ensure that only your approved attendees can access your content.
From the Virtual Event Page, you can find some exciting features, such as Access Codes, which require an access code or password to access virtual events, or even a time restriction feature that can Grant access to the live video content only after a specific date/time or until a particular date/time.
If you want to make your event more secure, you can export the attendees list before it starts. We have a helpful guide on how to do this here: Exporting and Importing Attendee CSV Files.
Afterward, you can add the names and email addresses from the attendee list you exported to the Zoom Sample CSV file and import it inside Zoom. Zoom has a helpful guide that walks you through each step and even provides a sample CSV file.
This lets you add many people at once and ensures that only those who signed up can join the meeting.
