Examply runs as a web app, so most people start — and stay — in the browser. This article covers which browsers are supported, the minimum versions we test against, and a couple of settings worth checking if something looks off.
You don't need to install anything to use Examply in the browser. Just sign in at examply.com with your workspace URL.
Note: Browser extensions that block third-party cookies or local storage can interfere with real-time updates in Examply. If task changes aren't showing up for teammates, check your extensions first.
Supported browsers
Examply supports the current and previous major release of these browsers:
Browser | Minimum version | Notes |
Google Chrome | Last 2 major versions | Recommended for the best performance |
Mozilla Firefox | Last 2 major versions | Full support, including timers and notifications |
Safari | 16 or later | Some drag-and-drop animations are simplified |
Microsoft Edge | Last 2 major versions | Chromium-based Edge only |
Examply doesn't support Internet Explorer or legacy Edge (EdgeHTML). If your workspace requires one of those, ask your admin about the desktop app instead.
What the browser needs to work
Cookies enabled for examply.com, so your session stays signed in
JavaScript enabled — Examply is a single-page app and won't render without it
Local storage enabled, used to cache your last view (Board, List, Timeline, or Calendar) and draft comments
Pop-ups allowed for examply.com if you connect integrations like Slack or Google Calendar, which open in a new window during setup
Installing Examply as a desktop-like app from the browser
Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all let you install Examply as a standalone window straight from the address bar, without a separate download:
Open your workspace in the browser.
Click the install icon in the address bar (Chrome and Edge), or open the browser menu and choose Install this site as an app (Firefox).
Confirm the install. Examply opens in its own window, separate from your other browser tabs.
This gives you app-like behavior — a dedicated taskbar icon and no browser chrome — without needing admin rights to install software.
Performance tips
Examply is a single-page app, so a browser that's been open for days with dozens of tabs will eventually feel slower than a fresh session. A few things help:
Close unused tabs, especially other tabs signed into Examply — running two sessions of the same workspace can cause conflicting local caches
Keep hardware acceleration enabled in your browser settings, since Timeline and Calendar views rely on it for smooth scrolling
Reload the tab after a long stretch of inactivity rather than leaving it asleep, so you pick up changes teammates made while you were away
Tablets
Examply works in tablet browsers (Safari on iPadOS, Chrome on Android tablets), but for daily use we recommend the dedicated iOS or Android app instead — it handles touch targets and offline caching better than a tablet browser does.
Troubleshooting
If Examply looks broken or won't load:
Confirm you're on a supported browser and version from the table above.
Clear cookies and cached data for examply.com, then sign in again.
Disable ad blockers or privacy extensions for examply.com and reload.
Still stuck? Email support@examply.com with your browser name and version.
