Firsty Free gives you free data for watching short advertisements; this article explains how much data you can earn, when you can earn more, and how to make it last.
How much free data do I get?
With Firsty Free, each advertisement you watch earns you 20 MB of data. You can watch up to 10 ads per day, so you can earn up to 200 MB per day, at speeds of up to 1 Mbps.
The data you earn stacks and stays valid for 7 days. However, you can only hold a maximum of 280 MB of unused data at a time. If your stacked data reaches 280 MB, you must use some of it before you can watch more ads to earn more.
Firsty Free is designed for essential use like messaging, maps, and light browsing.
Note: If you are on the earlier version of the Firsty app experience, you may still see 30-minute connection sessions per ad instead of earned data. Firsty is gradually moving everyone to the updated experience.
When can I earn more data?
The daily limit applies to the number of ads you watch, and there is a cap on how much unused data you can hold at one time.
This means:
You can watch up to 10 ads per day.
You can stack unused data up to a maximum of 280 MB. If you hit this limit, you must use some data before watching another ad.
Once you have watched 10 ads, you can't watch more until the next day.
Data you have already earned keeps working and stays valid for 7 days.
Why did my data run out so fast?
Your data usage includes everything running on your phone, not just what you actively use.
This includes:
Background apps (for example, social media and email syncing)
App updates
Cloud backups (Google Photos, iCloud, and so on)
Push notifications
Even if you're not actively browsing, these can quickly use up the data you've earned.
How can I track my data usage?
Currently, the Firsty app does not show a live data usage tracker for Firsty Free.
To check your usage, you can use your phone settings:
On iPhone
Open Settings
Tap Cellular
Scroll down to see data usage per app
On Android
Open Settings
Tap Network & Internet or Connections
Tap Data Usage
This will help you see which apps are consuming the most data.
How can I make my data last longer?
To avoid using up your data too quickly:
Turn off background app refresh
Disable automatic updates
Use WiFi whenever possible
Limit video streaming and heavy apps
Turn off cloud backups while on mobile data
Why do ads still work even if I have no data?
If you're on Firsty Free, you may still see ads load even when your browsing doesn't work.
This is expected behavior; ads are what keep Firsty Free running, and watching one earns you more data.
