The Pantry is the central database in Gaia, organizing essential objects like food items, recipes, supplies, and products. This article explains the Pantry's structure and how to navigate it.
Types of Objects in the Pantry
The Pantry is organized into 4 object types:
Food Items: Ingredients used in recipes or available for meal preparation.
Recipes: Complete meal instructions, including all necessary ingredients.
Supplies: Non-food items essential for operations.
Products: Specific instances of food and supply items as they appear on vendor order guides.
New items can be added to the Pantry from the +Create menu in the top right.
Quick Search
Quick Search lets you find Pantry items from any page in the web app without navigating back to the Pantry. It searches across all object types using your search terms.
Examples of use:
Searching for recipes while planning menus.
Adding ingredients in the Recipe Builder.
Locating vendor products during purchase orders.
Pantry Views

Customizing Views
Views are flexible and can be tailored to your needs:
Filters: Views combine search terms and filters, allowing you to save and quickly access commonly used reports and lists.
Display options: Select relevant fields like names, costs, nutritional data, and allergens. Sort fields in your preferred order.
Exporting: Download a spreadsheet of all items in a view. Exported files include all visible columns, with some split for easier analysis.
