The Pantry is the central database in Gaia Software, organizing essential objects like food items, recipes, supplies, and products. Here's a breakdown to help you understand and navigate the Pantry effectively:

Types of Objects in the Pantry

The pantry is organized based on 4 object types

  • Food Items: Ingredients used in recipes or available for meal preparation.

  • Recipes: Complete meal instructions, including all necessary ingredients.

  • Supplies: Non-food items essential for operations.

  • Products: Specific instances of food and supply items as they appear on vendor order guides.

New items can be added to the Pantry from the +Create menu on the top right.

Quick Search

Quick Search is a quick access feature that allows you to find Pantry items from any page on the website without needing to navigate back to the Pantry page. It uses your search terms to display all relevant results regardless of item type.

  • Examples of Use:

    • Searching for recipes while planning menus.

    • Adding ingredients in the Recipe Builder.

    • Locating vendor products during purchase orders.

Pantry Views

Summary of Views:

Views allow you to filter and organize Pantry objects for quick access. These dynamic displays adapt as new items are added.

  • Show a subset of Pantry objects based on filters.

  • Control which data fields are visible.

  • Examples:

    • Gluten-free recipes.

    • Products currently in stock.

    • All available supplies.

Customizing Views

Views are flexible and can be tailored to your needs:

  • Filters

    • Views combine search terms and filters, allowing you to save and quickly access commonly used reports and lists.

  • Display Options:

    • Select relevant fields like names, costs, nutritional data, and allergens.

    • Sort fields in your preferred order.

  • Exporting Views:

    • Download a spreadsheet of all items in a view.

    • Exported files include all visible columns, with some split for easier analysis.
