The POS reporting on the Analytics dashboard includes all of your sales data from Toast. You can use that report to export a file that can then be used to import a new menu into meez. Below are step by step instructions on how to do that.
Go to your POS Reporting dashboard
In meez, go to your Analytics dashboard, and click to view the POS Reporting.
The main table in the POS Reporting tab includes your sales data from Toast. You can export everything from this table, or filter the table to export only relevant menu items to the menu you want to create.
For example, if you want to filter the table to show only menu items that relate to a specific menu in Toast, follow the below steps:
Locate the Toast Menu Item column and click on the arrow right next to it.
Next, click Filter within the displayed menu.
A list of options will display to you. That list will display all of your Toast menu names. Click to select one or many options from that list.
That will filter the table to show only data that relates to those selected menus.
Export the Toast sales data
To export the data from the table, click on the table's more menu. The more menu will display at the top right corner of the table as 3 vertical dots. If you cannot see it, click anywhere within the table to make it visible.
Next, click Export within the displayed menu.
From the list of options, select CSV.
A csv file will download to your computer.
Create a new menu in meez
You can import your Toast sales data to a new menu or an existing one. The below steps will go over how to create a new menu in meez. If you already have a menu created - you can skip this step
Click on the +New button from the top right corner of the page, and select to create a new Menu.
Name your menu, and click Create Menu.
Your new menu will be created.
Import menu items and sales data to your menu
For more information on how to import menus or sales data into meez click here
Go to the menu you want to import data to. Click on the more menu at the top of the page, then click Import Sales Data.
A disclaimer will display to you. Note that if you are importing sales data to a menu that is not empty - the QTY Sold and Sell Price of all the existing menu items will be replaced by the values in the import. If you are importing to an empty menu - all the menu items in the import will be created and added to the menu.
Click Next to continue.
Next, select the file you exported in the Export the Toast sales data step above as the file to import.
A mapping screen will display to you. There are only 3 fields that are required for the import to properly work. It is important that the correct fields from the imported file are mapped to each. The mapping should be as shown in the table below.
Template Field | Field from Imported File (Toast Data) |
Menu Item Name | Menu Item Name |
Qty Sold | Total Quantity Sold |
Net Sales | Total Revenue |
Note that the mapping should automatically be set for you, but it is always a good idea to double check just incase. If the mapping looks good - click Next.
Verify that the data looks ok and click submit.
The import could take a few minutes to complete. Once done - make sure you validate that the menu looks good. The import will create/update three columns in the menu table.
Menu Column | Field from Imported File (Toast Data) |
Menu Item Name | Menu Item Name |
QTY Sold | Total Quantity Sold |
Sell Price | Calculated value. We calculate Sell Price by dividing the value of Total Revenue by the value of Total Quantity Sold |
Note that the import will create menu items for you and add them to the menu, but you still need to link recipes and ingredients to each menu item for all the costing metrics to display (Food Cost $, Food Cost %, etc).
