This guide doesn't cover the technical setup of the order tracking flow itself, that's already explained in detail in our dedicated guide.
👉 First, set up your order tracking flow using this guide: Tracking Flow
What you'll read here is how to turn this order tracking moment into an opt-in collection lever for your recent buyers, who are at this precise moment at their peak interest in your brand.
⚠️ This lever isn't limited to WhatsApp: it works exactly the same way on RCS and SMS. Whether your main channel is WhatsApp, RCS or SMS, the principle stays the same: use order tracking as an opportunity to invite the buyer to join your opt-in list.
Within this order tracking flow, you're acting under legitimate interest, which allows you to re-contact someone who has just completed a purchase (at the bottom of the marketing funnel).
Remember: you can't retarget this person with advertising campaigns without having obtained their explicit opt-in.
How to collect the opt-in? Invite the buyer to join your club (WhatsApp, RCS or SMS depending on your channel) via an invitation message as part of their parcel tracking.
1. Offer to subscribe
Once your Tracking Flow is set up, the buyer receives an offer to track their parcel on the chosen channel. On average, around 35% of people respond positively to the offer to track their parcel via WhatsApp.
Then add a Conditional Split node to check whether the buyer is already a member of your club, and only offer sign-up to new contacts:
Existing members: don't offer them sign-up again.
New customers: invite them to join the club to receive further marketing communications.
The condition to use on this node depends on the channel offered: the whatsapp_opt_in_status attribute for a WhatsApp club, or sms_optin_status for an RCS/SMS club.

2. Send a welcome message to the new opt-in
The opt-in is triggered the moment the contact clicks I'm joining the Club. Until the contact takes that action, they remain "not opted in", simply receiving the message isn't enough to count them as a Club member.
The yellow opt-in node identifies the contact as an existing member for their future interactions.
3. Confirm membership
Use the welcome message to offer maximum added value to your buyers. At this precise moment, they're at their peak interest in your brand: they've just completed a purchase and received their tracking link.
It's the ideal moment to reinforce their post-purchase experience:
Share product usage or care guides.
Feel free to use PDF format, which is easy to share on WhatsApp.
The goal is to give them an exceptional experience, even before their parcel arrives, for a truly 5-star customer journey.
Some buyers will prefer to track their parcel by email rather than WhatsApp, RCS or SMS. For these buyers, you can still offer to join your club, even if they declined the tracking option on the offered channel. It may seem counter-intuitive, but a share of these buyers only want email tracking and still want to join the club for extra benefits (around 15%).
💡 Key takeaway: This order confirmation flow is an excellent way to collect opt-ins on an ongoing basis, on WhatsApp as well as RCS and SMS. You collect the opt-in while the buyer is still engaged, while offering them value.
