RCS lets you send rich, branded messages (images, buttons, carousels) to your customers' native messaging app.
If you sell in more than one country, you can create a separate RCS agent for each one. WAX then picks the right agent for each contact automatically.
1. Why one agent per country?
An RCS agent is the verified sender your customers see: your brand name, logo and colours.
Our partner reviews and approves each agent for a specific country, and an agent can generally only reach phone numbers from that country.
To send RCS to customers in Germany, Spain or the United Kingdom, each of those countries needs its own approved agent.
2. Available countries
RCS is available in these countries today:
Austria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States.
3. Add a country
Prerequisites
The RCS add-on is active on your account.
You are an admin of your organization. Only admins can add, remove or change agents.
Steps
Go to Settings > RCS > Agents.
Click Add country and choose the country.
The agent form is prefilled with the details of your current agent. Check the information, adjust it for this country if needed, and submit.
Our partner reviews the new agent. This can take up to 10 business days. You'll get an email once it's approved.
You don't have to wait for your first agent to be approved: you can add more countries as soon as your first form is submitted.
Agent statuses
Action required: the form isn't finished yet. Click Resolve to complete it.
In review: our partner is reviewing the agent.
Active: the agent is approved and can send messages.
Rejected: the agent was refused. Click Resolve to see what needs fixing.
Only Active agents send messages. Until a new country's agent is approved, your contacts in that country will most likely not receive your RCS (see section 4).
4. Which agent is used for each contact?
You don't choose an agent in your campaigns or automations: WAX picks it for every message.
The agent for the contact's country. WAX reads the country from the phone number's international prefix (for example, +49 is Germany). If you have an active agent for that country, it sends the message.
Otherwise, another of your agents. If the contact's country has no active agent, WAX uses the agent that last exchanged messages with this contact, or else your default agent. As an agent can generally only reach numbers from its own country, the RCS will most likely not reach this contact. To reach them, add their country.
Example
You have an active agent in France (default) and one in Germany.
A contact with a +33 number receives your messages from the French agent.
A contact with a +49 number receives them from the German agent.
A contact with a +32 (Belgian) number has no Belgian agent: your RCS will most likely not reach them. If your campaign or automation has an SMS fallback, they receive the SMS instead.
The default agent
Your first agent is your default agent, shown with a Default badge. To change it, open the menu (⋯) of another active agent and click Set as default.
Remove a country
Open the menu (⋯) of the agent and click Remove. Contacts in that country no longer have an agent for their country, so they will most likely stop receiving your RCS. You can't remove your last agent: that means cancelling the RCS add-on.
5. Pricing
RCS is billed per message. The price depends on two things.
The type of message
Basic: a short text-only message.
Rich (single): a message with media, buttons or a carousel, or a longer text.
Conversation: if the contact replies within 24 hours of a rich message, that message is billed at the conversation rate instead of the rich rate.
The country of the agent
Each country has its own rates: a message is billed at the rates of the country of the agent that sends it.
Some countries may also have setup fees.
