What is a layout?

A saved arrangement of Giraffe's panels. Switch between layouts and change the panels in each.

Arrange your workspace around how you actually work.

A layout is a saved arrangement of Giraffe's panels. Each panel holds one or more apps, like Map, Layers, Properties, or Analytics. Use a layout to keep the apps you use close at hand, arranged the way you use them, and to remove anything that isn't relevant to what you're doing. The whole arrangement shows up as a named, colored tab you switch between while you work.

A layout changes your view

Switching layouts rearranges which panels are open and how they're split. It never adds, removes, or edits anything in your project.

Switch layouts

The layout tab strip sits in the top bar of every project and space. Each tab is a layout.

  1. Click any tab in the layout strip.

  2. Giraffe switches to that arrangement immediately. The active tab is highlighted in its assigned color.

Change the panels in a layout

Add apps to panels, then move, resize, collapse, or fullscreen panels and change their tab style, all from a panel’s tab bar and right-click menu. Changes save to the active layout.

Layouts belong to a project or a space

A layout is scoped to whichever context you saved it in:

  • Project layouts: tabs specific to a single project. They start from presets like Design, Map, or Flow.

  • Space layouts: tabs specific to a space. They start from presets like Discover or Browse.

Presets, personal layouts, and shared templates

Every layout starts life one of three ways: from a built-in preset, from one of your own saved layouts, or from a template someone shared with your workspace.

Add a new layout from a preset or another source, share your own with your team, and delete or revert the ones you no longer need.
