Moving from a legacy plan to the Atlas base plan

Why you are being asked to approve a new plan, what changes, and what happens to everything you have already built.

Written by Eddie Lavandera

If Atlas asks you to approve a new plan when you open the app, you are on one of the older Atlas plans and are being moved to the current one. Atlas now has a single plan: $39 a month with every feature included, plus usage charges as your store grows. You need to accept it to keep using Atlas.

In this article:

What you will see

Open Atlas and, before you can do anything else, Shopify's subscription approval screen appears. It shows the Atlas plan and its price, with a button to approve the charge.

This is Shopify's own screen, not an Atlas one, which is why it looks different from the rest of the app and why Atlas cannot skip it or dismiss it for you.

You have to accept it to continue. Until you do, Atlas will keep showing the approval screen each time you open it. There is nothing else to configure and no other plan to pick, because there is only one plan now.

Why this is happening

Atlas used to have several plans with different feature sets and different limits. That model has been retired. There is now a single Atlas plan, and nothing is locked behind a tier.

Rather than leaving merchants on plans that no longer correspond to how the product works, Atlas is moving everyone onto the current plan. The approval screen is Shopify's standard mechanism for changing an app subscription, which is why it needs your explicit acceptance.

What the new plan is

$39 a month, with every feature included:

  • License to use Atlas pages

  • AI store builder

  • AI product page builder

  • Bundler upsells & quantity breaks

  • Cart upsells

Plus an included usage allowance each billing cycle:

Item

Included

Published product and sales pages

Up to 10

Bundle revenue

Up to $1,000

Cart orders

Up to 250

Beyond an allowance, that category moves into a tier with a fixed monthly charge. See Atlas usage rates and tiers.

What changes

Your billing. The base amount and the way usage is charged both change. Compare $39 plus usage against what your old plan cost.

Feature access. On the new plan everything is included. If your old plan restricted anything, that restriction is gone.

Limits. Old plans had fixed monthly limits on things like page imports. The new model has allowances with usage charges beyond them rather than hard caps.

What does not change

Nothing you have built is affected.

Kept

Every page you have published, live on your storefront

Every bundle and its offers

Your cart drawer configuration

All your projects, research documents and saved personas

Your analytics history

Your theme and its Atlas extensions

ℹ️ This is a billing change, not a migration. Nothing is rebuilt, republished or moved, and your storefront is untouched.

Whether you will pay more

It depends on your usage, and the honest answer is that you should check rather than assume.

You will likely pay less if your old plan was one of the higher-priced ones and your usage is modest. The base plan is $39 and most stores stay within the included allowances.

You will likely pay more if you were on a low-cost or one-time plan and use Atlas heavily.

To work it out, look at your recent activity: how many pages you publish in a typical month, how much added bundle revenue you generate, and how many cart drawer orders you take. Then price it using How your Atlas bill is calculated.

💡 Check the Usage & billing tab after accepting. It shows your current usage against the allowances and what your bill would be, so you can see the real figure for your store rather than an estimate.

If you do not accept

You cannot continue using Atlas without an active subscription on the current plan. Features that require a subscription will be unavailable.

⚠️ Declining does not delete anything, but it does stop your storefront features. Your pages, bundles and cart drawer need an active subscription to keep working, so declining takes them out of service. Everything is kept and comes back when you accept.

If the new pricing does not work for your store, the same applies as for any cancellation: everything you built is kept, and your storefront features stop until a subscription is active. See What happens after you cancel.

Questions about your specific case

If you are unsure how the change affects your store, contact support from the chat bubble in Atlas, or at support@helloatlas.io, with your store URL and which plan you were on. Support can tell you what your bill would look like under the new plan based on your actual usage.
