References are the reusable elements that define how your video looks, sounds, and feels. With references, you bring in your:

Instead of every shot being generated from scratch, references ensure your video looks and feels like a cohesive ad or campaign.

Not every image needs to be a reference. If you just want to attach a photo to a single video, use an Asset instead — upload it or click one you already have, and it drops straight into your prompt. Save something as a Character, Product, Logo, Style, or Voice reference when you need it to look or sound identical every time it's used, across many videos.

You can add references directly in your prompt using @mentions.

Before using references, create and save them in your account, from the References tab of a Brand or your personal space.

Saved references — Create a product, character, logo, voice, or style once, and it's saved to your account. Use it across as many videos as you like by typing @ and selecting it.

Temporary references — Upload an image directly to the chat in a video without saving it as a reference. It'll only be used in that one video — you can find it within the video in the @ Ref tab, but it won't show up in your saved references or be available in any other video.
