For: Employees
If your employer runs a referral campaign in Jolly, you can earn points for referring people you know. You don't wait until they're hired to earn - you earn in steps, each time your referral moves forward.
Where to find it
Open the Jolly app, select your employer, and go to the Earn tab.
Find the Refer a friend card. It shows the most you can earn for one referral (for example, "Up to 25,750 pts").
Tap the card (or View more, if your app shows it) to open the full referral page.
The referral page shows:
Refer now - the button you use to refer someone.
How it works - every step of your employer's referral program and what each one pays.
Available Jobs - the roles your employer is hiring for, if they list them in Jolly.
Referrals this month - if your employer limits how many referrals you can send, this counter shows how many you have used (for example, "0/5 referrals this month").
Don't see a referral card? Update the Jolly app to the latest version and reopen it. If it's still not there, your employer may not have referrals turned on.
How to refer someone
On the referral page, tap Refer now and send your personal referral link by text, email or social media.
Your friend opens the link on their phone - they don't need the Jolly app. They choose a role and fill in a short form with their name, phone number, email and location. Some employers also let them attach a resume.
They tap Submit application. Some employers then send them to their careers site to see all open positions and finish applying there.
That's it. Once your friend submits the form, the referral is linked to you and you don't need to do anything else. Make sure they use your link - that's how Jolly knows the referral is yours.
How you earn, step by step
Every referral moves through a series of steps that your employer sets up. Each time your referral reaches a new step, you earn that step's points. A typical setup looks like this:
Submitted - your friend sends in their info. This happens automatically, and the points usually arrive within minutes.
Reviewed (often called Approved or Interviewed) - your employer moves your referral forward after reviewing the candidate.
Hired - your friend is hired. Depending on your employer, this is updated by your employer or happens automatically once your friend is on the payroll.
Milestones - your friend keeps working, for example 30 or 90 days after their hire date, or a set number of hours. These update automatically. Time-based milestones are checked once a day, so the points can arrive the day after; hours-based milestones update as your employer's work hours reach Jolly.
Not every employer uses all of these steps. Some add more milestones, some name them differently, and every employer sets its own point values. The exact steps and points for your employer are always shown in the app under How it works on the referral page.
Example: what one referral could earn
Tap How it works on the referral page to see your employer's steps and points. Here's one example:
In this example, a referral that's hired and stays 90 days earns 250 + 500 + 10,000 + 15,000 = 25,750 points - the "Up to" amount shown on the Earn tab. The early steps are small thank-yous; most of the reward comes once your friend is hired and stays. These are example values only - check the app for what your employer pays.
Good to know
The points go to you, not your friend. Once your friend joins, they can earn their own points from your employer's other campaigns.
Each step pays once. If your referral jumps ahead (for example, straight from Submitted to Hired), you still earn every step in between.
Points you earn are yours to keep. If your friend isn't hired, or leaves later, you keep everything already paid.
One referral per person. The same person can only be referred once every 6 months at your employer, and the first referral counts. If someone else already referred your friend, a second referral won't go through.
Refer people before they're hired. A referral sent in long after someone was already hired may not count.
You can't refer yourself.
There may be a limit. Your employer can cap how many referrals each person submits in a set period. The counter on the referral page shows where you stand.
You'll hear about progress. Jolly emails you as your referral moves forward, so keep your email up to date in the app.
Where the points land
Each referral bonus arrives in your Inbox as a claimable reward, the same as any other campaign points. Tap Claim to move it into your balance. Claim before Jolly Day (the last day of the month), or unclaimed points go back to your employer - see How do I claim my points, and what is Jolly Day?
If a referral bonus hasn't shown up
Check your Inbox first. The bonus may be waiting to be claimed.
Check whether your referral has reached the next step. Steps your employer moves by hand, like Reviewed, depend on when they review the candidate.
For milestones, allow a day or two. Time-based milestones count from your friend's hire date on your employer's records.
Make sure your friend used your link, and that no one else referred them first.
If it still hasn't arrived, ask your manager or HR team where your referral is in the hiring process. If they can't see the problem either, contact support with your name, your friend's name, and roughly when you referred them.
Questions? Tap Contact Support in the Jolly app. You can also email support@jolly.com (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm ET; after-hours messages answered next business day).
